Somewhere I read (have read frequently!) that the only 'safe' place to add a new song to songlist.2da is slot 0 (zero). But what if slot 0 is already occupied? How would you add a new song then? Just to be awkward, I want to add three new pieces of music, although I suspect I can get away with a PlaySound() for one of them.

No, no, don't use slot 0 for a new song. Use slot 0 for a blank song that you can play (to essentially turn off the music), then play your mod's music as a sound.

Hi Ghrey

I finally tracked down your tutorial on adding songs with Weidu. Finding it did cause me a slight smile; the old joke about 'why is <something> always in the last place you look' was true in this case. I searched the tutorial forums in SHS, G3 and PPG (in that order) and the one I wanted really was the last one on the last page in PPG.... :D

Hehehe. I don't even recall writing it. Was it actually relevant in this day and age of newfangled modding technology?

I found one tutorial, but Im not concerned with compressing the files, Im just playing arround with my own stuff.

According to what I've read:

Open a blank .txt file and add the following text:-

MXMYMOD
1
A @TAG END

Which seems to fit because as a template I was using LR files and found this:

MXHeal
1
A @TAG END

Now do I have to make a BAT file? It looks as though I don't. What Im getting is that I just add this code to the setup file:

COPY ~MyMod\Sounds\MxMyMod.mus~ ~Music\MxmyMod.mus~
ADD_MUSIC ~MyMod~ ~Music\MxMyMod.mus~

That has the .mus file added to the game, but do I also need to add a line to copy the WAV file itself? It also poses the question to me: "Where does snd2acm fit in?" or is the copying of the .mus file covering that?

What Im trying to do is juat add some music I pilfered off of another game I have but don't play. I have the sound in .wav form, I just need it in game. I was planning on just adding it to the songlist.2da instead of adding it to the scripts.

Im starting to get the hang of this modding I think...

PocketPlane Group here and here. As Ghrey said and Idobek hinted, it's not a good idea to use .acm files because of the restriction on the number of songlist.2da slots available, so I'm going with Idobek's tutorial for my mod.
