I play tested using a priest,Dirbert and Shadow. It took a few reloads but I could make it to Aesdale (the elf on the boat) everytime. I used the priest as my front line fighter, Dirbert as cover fire and Shadow with backstabs. I hope everyone enjoys having a barbarian in the beginning. He will have his own side quest at higher levels. BTW What did you think of Althon?

Refresh my memory, I'm drawing a blank on Althon.
At low levels, you almost have to use your priests as
front line fighters. I'm still having difficulty with the
Lizardmen Spear Chuckers. Do those guys ever miss?

You should know who to thank for the lizardmen spear chuckers (Horred). They are throwing a version of the +3 Backbiter spear.

Althon is a fallen cavalier that you can meet in Saltmarsh if you met with the noble who asked you to visit him after a meeting. He is the best melee fighter so far in the game.

One more little joy to thank Horred from. The
only way I've found to deal with them is to engage
them in melee immediately, otherwise, they gut
your party. After installing the patch, reinstalling
CA and then installing Exnem, things seem to be
working smoothly. I'm kicking my way through the
underground complex.

Ah, the slimy dude. I didn't want any part of him.
His icon picture looked truly creepy so I gave him
a pass.

Althon is getting a new picture thanks to Plasmocat. Althon is a major NPC. You should try him with Aesdale?I am sure you will find their storyline interesting. He is the toughest melee fighter that will be introduced. There will be other fighters in the future but Althon is the main heavy hitter.

I should be able to play through to Saltmarsh over the weekend. I'll
try and add the Wizard and Althon to my party and see what happens.

Althon has some interesting dialogs with everyone else. Slimy is a good description of him. He will become even more so later in the game. You do have the chance of redeeming him, just like he can help you fall from grace (good to evil).

At some point, we will have so many NPCs, that you will need to try several different parties to experience all the possible dialog/banter events. Just like BG1 or BG2.

He doesn't blend in well with a "good" party. He needs some
redemption. My copy of CA seems to have become corrupted.
I've develped a couple of glitches on a clean install.

1) I'm getting a "NO VALID REPLIES" message during the dialogue
with the Captain when you return from meeting the Lizardmen.

2) I still cannot complete the setting with Aesdale. He shows up with Blush
in the Inn after his "meal," but I cannot initiate dialogue with him. I can
talk to Blush, but she responds as if Aesdale wasn't there.

3) I had problems resetting levels when I started a new file. The game
wanted to start me at 89,000 XP even though I had run the XP patcher
and reset the starting point to 100.

Check to see if CA doesn't play well with Exnem. That's the only thing
I've added. I'm thinking that this is something that I've done and not
a true bug. My current play through has come to a complete standstill.
I've managed to break the dialogue loop with the militia captain. I'm
going to have to start with a new party or rebuild. Rebuild seems to be
the most likely option.

Exnem and CA may have conflicts with random treasure. I have created a whole new set of random scrolls and generic treasure items. Exnem appends on top of some of these but not all of them. So you may have those problems with dropped treasure.

This wouldn't explain the Captain's dialog issue. This is the first time I have had anyone say that they had this problem so I am not sure what is causing it.

I have put CA on a backburner for a few days so I can get BG1NPCv11 out the door. With the turkeyday holiday quickly approaching here (2 days), I may not get back to any of this until the weekend at the earliest.

I am working on finalizing the Mistmoor mod so I may release that as a patch to your current game. I will then have to go back and fix these bugs in the earlier part of the game. We have a new NPC to add to the beginning of the game so that may help you with some of the fights.

I'm back in Houston for Thanksgiving. I'm really frustrated with Memphis and
I don't plan on staying there beyond this year. Anyway, on to CA.
I was thinking the same thing. Exnem is probably creating problems with the
random treasure scripts just like it did with CtB.

I'm wondering what I could have done to corrupt the Captain's dialogue and Aesdale's
dialogue?

I'm going to try fresh downloads and installs here in Houston to see if I can fix the dialogue
problems.

Enjoy Thanksgiving.

I forgot that I was using a different computer and didn't log in. OOPS!!
I'm downloading CA now so I can complete the install. I was going to
check out the TDDsinTDD mod because I love the TDD kits, spells,
and items, I was hoping to be able to graft just those things onto my CA
install, but alas, no such luck. The TDDsinTDD mod is a Spanish language
mod and the English beta is not ready for prime time. DAMNATION!!!!!!!
(I told you I like cheese :D)

The kits work fine in the beta of TDDsinTDD, I used it a couple of times before the new TDD weidu came out. It changes a couple of the NPC locations tho.

I couldn't even find a download site for the damned thing. They direct you
to the Spanish language host site. After searching the screen, I didn't
find anything that remotely looked like "download." That and the reviews
cite several major glitches.

I found out a couple of things. First, the BP Series scripts do no work with CA.
They don't operate and will cause CTD's. Second, much of the problems I
had on my daughter's computer are either flaws in her computer or flaws in the
downloaded programs I installed on her computer. Third, CA does not seem to
be compatible with multiplayer. Other than that, everything seems to be
running well enough on my computer here in Houston. I'll let you know more
as I work my way through the mod.

I am not sure about the multiplayer part since I never run my games that way. My understanding is that most of this is built into the engine anyway. The only time I have to be careful is if I move you between areas using a script. I think I have the right commands for doing this at each point (mainly to and from the Sea Ghost, the Captain moving you to the mayor's house, and Aesdale's cutscene between Althon and Blush). Movement between AREs using a transition (edge of the map) doesn't use a script and is therefore handled by the game not by me. Can you give me exact locations that you are having problems?

I had to change some TDD spell filenames (SPWIxxx.SPL) to fit with CtB, IWD (1 and 2), and some other spells. So a BP script may try to use a spell that isn't referenced correctly. Any idea on which spells you were casting? I don't know what else is in the scripts to have conflicts. Most of the game's IDS files are from BP, so they should match.

By the way, all of the TDD spells are in this game, so don't reinstall them from the TDDsinTDD mod. That would cause problems.

My son and I tried to run multiplayer and we encountered totally snafu'd dialogue's for everyone
except the host computer. Rurik showed up as a Sahaugin Necromancer and so on.

The BP Series first caused a crash when trying to pick up something from a dead kobald. Didn't seem to
have anything to do with casting a spell. The second and subsequent times it crashed was when I tried to autobuff my characters.

If I can ever find a useable copy of TDDsinTDD, I will have to remember not to install the spells.

We played into the dungeon, throught the Goblins, last night before the dialogue problems became too difficult to get around.

I restarted on my daughter's computer last night. I'm
running a Cavalier. I'm trying to figure out what has
been jumbled her computer. The start screen is ominous.
The TOB graphics that showed up on my computer in
Houston are missing. Instead, I'm still seeing the SOA
start screen.

The dialogue seems fine so far, but I'm still in the dungeon
where everything ran perfectly before. (A couple of miniquests
to flesh out the NPC's couldn't go amiss.) As I complete more
of the adventure, I'll let you know how things progress.
