Stuck in offline hell

At the moment, I'm laboring without a functional install of anything
except an unpatched BG II - TOB and TOEE. At the moment, I'm
playing my way through TOEE and marveling at how badly Atari
screwed up what should have been a slam dunk. Neverwinter
Nights is far superior and neither TOEE nor NWN can hold a candle
to BG's dialog and interactions. What I need to know is, what exactly
do I need to download to play CA. I'm going to have to burn it to
disk here at work and then take it home to try and install on my computer.

yay marks install problems again, oh how Ive missed them lol
Hopefully, I can get this thing set up and running with a minimum of
fuss. My track record on these thngs hasn't been very good, I'll admit.
So far I've listed the .32 full install, the TOB patch, and WinRar.
Anything I've left off my list?
Oops, almost forgot NI. Can't go without that!

Other than ToB and the main patch, you can always add some of the tweaks from G3. There should be a mention of it here somewhere. I haven't used it but MTS has and I would assume he would let me know if he had problems with it and CA.

The full package is it right now. I have had a few delays in getting the next part out (dead hard drive). So I am about 1 month behind but I still hope to get it out soon.

Sorry to hear about the dead hard drive. I think I've been able to package
everything onto a cd. I'll take it home tonight and try to install. The computer
that I'm using at work is a piece of crap though, so I'm expecting some
failures in the process of transferring everything to disc. I'll let you know what
happens.

Yep, I tried to run the install last night. Everything went fine until I tried to install
the TOB patch. The file was corrupted. I was not able to download an uncorrupted
patch from Interplay. In any case, I went ahead and installed CA anyway. It seems
to run perfectly well without the patch. I also forgot about the nasty little traps inside the ruins. Grumble, grumble, grumble . . . reboot, reboot, reboot. I also found out that my daughter's computer doesn't have Java installed, so NI will not work. Louder Grumble, Grumble, Grumble. Playing without a save game editor leaves one feeling a little naked and unprotected.
I ended up blowing off grading papers last night and spent the evening playing CA.
Didn't get very far, bue from what I've run through, everything seems to be working perfectly well. Great Job!!! I'll keep posting my trials and tribulations as I'm able to play my through the .32 build.

Yes I would have. Just use common sense with the components. I will also add that "Item Value Tweaks" mod caused no problems for me either.

The difficulty is in getting the files downloaded. My piece of crap computer tends to garble
files and MCS blocks access to many of the download sites because they contain
potentially improper materials. God, do I need my own internet access. Played some more
last night. Things still seem to be going well. There's an annoying little glitch with Meepo
after you return the dragon. Had to reboot so I could throw his scrawny butt out of the party.
Not a real problem, but annoying. Something seems funky with the armor class statistics.
Dirbert started out with an AC of 1. He now has an AC of 5 and nothing has changed. ???
I need to have my son send along the codes for several of the "popular" items so that I can
"equip" my party. I'm tired of getting my ass whupped by a bunch of Hobgoblins. Oh well,
back to work.

I restarted with a new character and Dilbert's starting AC was 6.I think someone else had mentioned the AC problem. I am not sure why
you are seeing this. I don't change anything that I can think of to trigger
this problem. Perhaps he had a dexterity boost when you saw him at AC 1?

Anyway, I think that I have been able to play all of the way through
the first two chapters. I'm being sent off to Selgaunt and the city does
not show up as highlighted on the map. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
The missing TOB patch does seem to have an impact on gameplay. I had
all kinds of minor glitches. Including:
1) I often had to reenter an area before I could initiate dialog.
2) The damned wizard that you pick up on the ship refused to speak to me
in the Inn. Not that I can blame him, the elven lass he is with isn't bad
looking.
Both of these are likely do to my install or my faulty gameplay. A special
round of kudos is in order. The dialog and character interactions have really
come a long way. All-in-all, excellent work. I'm waiting for the next sequence.

I am working on an area you will find near the Sahuagins called Mistmoor. Afterward, I will release version .33 which will have most of these fixes people have mentioned here.
Selgaunt will not be available until version .34 because it is going to take me quite some time to build all those areas. Think of the number of outdoor areas used for Baldur's Gate (9 plus the bridge). I may not make all of them immediately. I may just make the first couple and then work on the slaver island. I haven't decided yet.

Selgaunt isn't on the map yet because the area doesn't exist yet. I haven't made it.

That's what I thought. I will wait as patiently as possible for version .33.
I am absolutely useless when it comes to building areas. I have trouble
making areas work correctly using NWN's modding package.
If you need a writer for work on a project, let me know.
Hopefully, by the time the next segment is released, my Internet access
problems will have been solved, one way or another.

of the patch. Hopefully by tomorrow, I'll be able to play
through the game without the errors that I have run into.
I was also able to pull down a copy of Shadowkeeper
to use on my save games. I also pulled down a copy of
Exnem because I like CHEESE

Another joinable melee warrior will be included in the update, this should help balance the party if the PC is a weaker class. this will also allow the beginning to be played in another stlye. Personally I prefer commando tactics. I found Dirbert and shadow useful for this playing stlye.

I always liked to have a pair of "cannon fodder" types
in the front lines to slow down the enemy's fighters.
That and to keep the big meanines off of my spell
casters. They're not much use if they're engaged in
melee. The commando tactics always took way too
much planning for me. I'd have to run through an
encounter a half dozen times before I was really
comfortable.

I usually rush in with everything I got and see what happens. Then when I have my ass thouroughly handed to me on a silver platter I reload and try it with some tactics.
ronin
Sounds like we're calling from the same playbook. It usuall takes about three
or four "ass kickings" before I figure out that the bum rush isn't working.
Then I'll step back and try some strategy. Then again, after the third or
fourth "strategy" blows up in my face, I head out in search of a walkthrough
or spoiler for a clue.

yep, sounds like we are using the same "tactics" book. If at first ya cant bum rush em, try try again. LOL

Yepper, Damn the torpedoes, Full speed
ahead. Send that damned cleric into melee!
I've completed the released segments twice now.
Once with a Cleric/Mage. Very tough because you
have no true fighters in your party. Once with a
Bard/Skald. Not as tough. My third trip through will
probably be with a Fighter type.
I plan to get back to CA tonight. I'm going to
install the patch and then reinstall CA. Hopefully, that
will take care of the glitches I have run into.
1) The wizard's storyline.
2) Having to reenter areas to reset broken dialogues.
3) New spells not functioning.
If that doesn't fix the problem, I'll do a complete rebuild
on Friday night. At this point, I'm assuming that everything
that I'm seeing is a result of my botched install.
