True (history teacher speaking). My main point was earlier. I just think that regardless of what path you choose, dark or light, saving the Republic will be neccessary. For a Sith, it may merely be incidental to grabbing whatever power you can, but it may be the main point of the game for a light-sider.

Hmm... I hate to admit it, but I see your point ;)

I think that the Republic fell and was remade. Otherwise I believe Palpatine would have said it differently. But then again, opinions will always differ

Well i believe you have to take one thing into consideration....Lucas doesn't pay much attention to the games(if none at all) so when he wrote the movies i don't think he had in mind anything about the long forgotten early ages of the Republic, so i wouldn't read too much into what Palpatine said in the movies....but i think we can all agree that 4000 years is a long time and whether or not the Republic falls and is rebuilt it can happen, so we shall see....in anycase i believe that it's going to come down to Revan vs The Exile in some way, the writers will most likely put them in a situation where they have to duel, they won't have any other choice, to me making the final saber fight that on par with Anakin and Obi-Wan in Revenge of the Sith or Darth Maul vs Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon in Episode I would be a tremendous sendoff for the three part series.....but who would win?? could depend on who you pick in the beginning...just a thought however.....

The Republic did fall about 1000 years before the events in the Star Wars films and approximately 2000 years after the events of KotOR I and KotOR II. :P

In all likelyhood Palpatine was referring to this. -_-

Here's a perdenant question....

If they make another three part series after the next Kotor assuming they wrap up the trilogy with the third, how far ahead do you think the storyline should skip, 1000 years, 100 years, 20 years....what do you guys think??? my personal opinion is it will depend on what happens in the third but i don't have an exact number i just think it should skip ahead far enough so that they can write a new star wars storyline from scrap, and if they do get Bioware to write it, then if they have to like before have Obsidian pick up the pieces and hopefully follow up decently this time....go ahead and post your opinion on the matter....

Oh, this is a no-brainer!
After completing the trilogy, LucasArts will make three prequels to the trilogy set a few years before KotOR I

The first prequel will be completely confusing to those who have not played the Trilogy since LucasArts won't bother to introduce the characters. It will feature a motley band of Jedi fleeing for one reason or another to the outer region of the galaxy when they landed on the remote planet of Deralia where they encountered a cute little kid called Revan who was very strong in the Force.
When the band met Revan he had just finished building HK-47, an assassination droid disguised as a translation protocol droid, made to enforce his rule over the neighborhood kids. Rather than seeing this as a sign of the Dark Side, the Jedi decided to take Revan in for formal Jedi training.
Afterwards, there would be a lot of distractions mainly a super long swoop race that will make many gamers pull their hair out in frustration. Finally they'll throw in Barber Jinx the hairless Wookie, who despite failing miserably as a comic relief figure will survive all three prequels.
The final boss will be some guy (maybe Exar Kun) with a double-lightsaber who's mainly there for coolness factor. B)

The second prequel will be called "Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic: Attack of the Mandalorians" with no plot but lots of action, with the players forced to cut through wave after wave of similarly looking armored troopers. -_-

The third prequel will feature Malak and Revan's fall to the Dark Side during the first search for the Star Forge and will be highlighted by Malak having his jaw and several limbs hacked off in the end of the game.

As for which company LucasArts would choose for this endeavor: Bioware definitely has a better track record, but any company that would create a game like Neverwinter Nights should be greatly feared and ostracized.
Guess we'll have to see how Dragon Age comes out. -_-

Interesting take, a little juvenile but different none the less...but i do firmly disagree on one thing, a game especially a Kotor game has to have a solid story that works from start to finish....action is nice and should be included but you need a story, its been the backbone of the Kotor games so far...and personally i think they should make a separate game from the Kotor rpg games and devote it entirly to the Mandalorian Wars, sorta like battlefront only with a Kotor take on things....and i believe they'll move ahead, not back and write a story from scratch....still an interesting thought, anyone else....

Just a quick question i need answered that's been bugging me-

Call me uninformed if you will but what i've been wondering lately is 'did Lucasarts write both games then have Bioware and Obsidian make them or did both Bioware and Obsidian write both games themselves'....

And on top of that did Lucasarts have a say in what goes on, like characters, planets, stuff they don't like or is it all up to the developer to make....

It's kinda hard to say exactly how much influence LucasArts had in the creation, but I'm pretty certain that Bioware and Obsidian respectively designed and wrote the games. LucasArts is just the publisher of the games, as they have copyright on anything that might concern or involve the Star Wars setting.

Hey, anybody care to answer the question???

Maybe you could try to be a bit more patient in the future? These kind of posts are not really necessary, as they don't help much. People will answer questions as soon as they can - everyone is here at their own free time and no one's obligated to reply. As such, demanding or even reminding after such short time might come across as a bit impolite - which could discourage people from answering at all.

Well, if you knew the answer's not going to come fast, why not try multiple boards, and perhaps ones that focus more on Star Wars? Spellhold Studios's primary focus is IE modding. And you may have realized that the KotOR forums here don't have that many people posting on them?

Hey relax pal, i just wanted to get a questined answered....

I'm totally relaxed.

keep in mind the more 'you' burrade people on simple matters like question being answered the less people will recommend or come to this site.....

If people are going to stop posting because I 'burrade' them whenever they're impolite on my forum, then that's not really my loss.

I realise that internet communication is pretty hard at best, and it's easy to accidentally come across as rude or arrogant - I've had problems with it myself in the past. That's why I'm just suggesting to you that you could be a bit more patient, in order not to be misunderstood or misinterpreted by others. It's just an advice of goodwill, and if you don't want to listen, then that's up to you.

besides i find it can take days even weeks to get a response from anyone here, that's why i pushed it along....

Again, I have to say:

"People will answer questions as soon as they can - everyone is here at their own free time and no one's obligated to reply."

I think overall (not just you), people need to be more thankful for the answers they get rather than be irritated over the answers they don't - considering that no one's forced or obliged to answer them. Oh, and what Archmage said, too.

If you want to continue discussing this, I'd be glad to take it over PM, in order not to derail this topic.
