Hello everyone,

Even half-way around the world, we're receiving bulletin after bulletin from the havoc in south-east United States, especially the area around New Orleans, where the hurricane Katrina brought death and disaster to the people living there. Homes and lives are wrecked, families are shattered and there is a critical need of food and water. Looters are everywhere and people kill to survive. The total amount of lands that is under federal disaster area declaration is approximately 90 000 square miles, which equals 230 000 000 000 m^2.

We know for sure that members of this community are located in this area. Although visiting internet communities and RPG modding most likely are at the bottom of the list of priorities, I would like to take this opportunity to extend my condolences, as well as the condolences of the SHS Staff.

Even in times of despair, there is hope. Cling to that hope, and know that when things look darker than ever before, it can only get better.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you - wherever you might be.

This thread is open for condolences, comments and discussion. It would, however, be preferred if political argumentation could be kept out of it. Thank you.

In hope and faith,

- Sebastian

Along with the people affected by Katrina, my condolences go out to the soldiers trying to sort out all the looting and such. I hope they all get back home safe and sound.

If you feel like you have some extra cash lying around feel free to donate to any of these sites listed, courtesy of my local rock station:

On the other two forums from which I commonly visit, this exact topic has endless replies and debates ranging from government's fault to it being a race-related problem. It seems almost no talk of it here though.

But to be honest, I'm glad because some people are getting angry and that's simply ridiculous. Thus I come here where the focus is of the fictional sort. That's what I've always loved about D&D; it's trusty ability to take your mind off real-world nonsense.

Doesn't mean you should forget totally though. It does put into context just how seriously some people take modding, even when people are dying in the masses.

I've got a few friends over so this sorta thing does rest on the mind.

how come you always look so damn cool in every photo I see you in?!?

Speaking of modding, I listened to IER 3 yesterday, so you can have another quote for your signature: how come you sound so damn cool, as well as look it? It's unfair. Seriously.

Still a cyberjock, still hacking the matrix, still unsure of what that means.

I think we've all seen bits of the horror of New Orleans, either on television or in the newspapers. Or even online. And many of us either have been directly or indirectly affected by the devastation. Amidst all the political broil and blame that has gone up about it, however, I'd like to think that we keep in sight the main fact that there are thousands and thousands of people who have lost their lives, been displaced, or have lost others. My thoughts and prayers go to all of them.

Through lightning, travel shadow,
Through hell and all above,
Surviving sword and arrow,
Bound stronger by the love

***

And in the end a witness,
To where the death has lain,
Silent through the sorrow,
Where innocents lie slain
