Bio:
When asked about his past, Dirbert reminds you that he grew up in the same village of Oakhurst that you did. His parents weren't the successful adventuring types like yours. They are poor farmers that barely get by each year. The constant fear of lack of food for his family helped Dirbert work harder at his skills of archery and hunting.
Dirbert has assisted the village's militia by volunteering to scout for orcs, goblins, wolves, and other unfriendly creatures that sometimes plague Oakhurst. He has always hoped that his success at archery events and other competitions will someday bring him to one of the big cities and get him away from his poor farmlife.
Plans for Dirbert:
Dirbert is a work in progress. I haven't decided what to do with him. Right now, he is a mix of Minsc/Garrick/Kivan/Valygar without the Eeyore (donkey from Whinnie the Pooh) attitudes on life that the last two have. He is basically an older human teenager that has just lost his family and so his emotions are all over the place. He wants to do good (Neutral Good alignment) but his solo hunting over time keeps him from being Lawful or Chaotic. He feels kind of lost right now.
Dirbert's parents are both half-elves. So what do you get when two half-elves breed? Who knows? Dirbert has the strength and physical features of a tall human but has the eyes of an elf and even some of the facial features. He has no resistances like normal half-elves. I listed him as human because that is the way most people would view him on a first time meeting.
Dirbert is somewhat goofy like Garrick or Minsc. His soundset is from IWD and you will hear that he makes several jokes about the task at hand. Most of his banters are with Shadow whom he has associated with as a little sister and sometimes teases her like one.
There are several benefits to having Dirbert in your party. One, he can kill anything but skeletons and bosses of the citadel in one hit (though not always). Two, Rurik will give him a special item from his store if the two of them spent time adventuring the citadel together. Three, he trains Aesdale in the correct use of daggers (increase in proficency). Four, he does have some good dialog with everyone (not yet, I just noticed that I need to include some more).
However, Dirbert does not have any future quests. He is troubled by what happened (have the gyspy women talk to him) but this will only increase his determination to stop the slavers. He has no reason to leave you and you have no reason to keep him. It is up to you.
Banter with Althon:
Dirbert - Hey, Althon have you seen many battles? I watched you in battle and you are truly impressive!
Althon - I don't like violence, Dirbert. I'm a businessman and blood is a big expense. Tell me, do the people of your village always have a peculiar odor amongst them?
Dirbert - What do you mean? Do you say I smell bad? (sniffs self) I just had a bath at the last inn.
Althon - I am sorry Dirbert, perhaps it is the smell of poverty. Now if you don?t mind I have better things to do. I feel no need in wasting my time talking with you.
