The title speaks for itself - what do you think about this upcoming online multiplayer game?
Where can I find more information? Who's hosting the game? What does it cost?
What is the setting? All that other fun stuff.

You will have to pay a monthly fee, according to the FAQ. There aren't too many which don't, but Guild Wars is good.If i have to pay a monthly fee like for WoW, then no.
The price isn't yet givenI'm interested too but if its too expensive, nah.
The developers web site is at www.ddo.com. Atari and Turbine, Inc are the developers. Costs are not yet determined. And it will be set in Eberron.Where can I find more information? Who's hosting the game? What does it cost?
What is the setting? All that other fun stuff.
I'll probably give it a try, but unless it makes changes from the normal MMO style it won't be a game that I like.
Back from the brink.
Like RPGs? Like Star Wars? Think combining the two would be fun? Read Darths and Droids, and discover the line "Jar Jar, you're a genius".
These, in the day when heaven was falling,
The hour when earth's foundations fled,
Followed their mercenary calling
And took their wages and are dead.

You are not the only one Feanor - yet the creators say they have a greater freedom for the designing part of the game (which is true indeed).
True, but this way it loses a part of the atmosphere. It's better when you know what happens in the world where the game is set and you don't have to read a manual which can't cover too much, anyway. That is why Morrowind never managed to cause me the same feeling of "belonging there" as the AD&D games.

I poked around the DDO forums for a while and the implimentation just does not appeal to me at all. It seems that the only MM part of the game will be out side of most quests. Sort of like some 3d lobby. Also there seems to be too much of an emphasis on a sterotypical and rigid implimentation of the game, when the most appealing part of RPGs to me (esp pen and paper ones) is the flexibility, the freedom of action, being able to try anything.
From the rather lage amount of stuff I've read it's just going to be NWN with a 3d main lobby, and it will probbaly cost 15 bucks a month.
As for being "as nice as the screenshots suggest", please. How can you judge gameplay or content based on a few screen shots?

Yikes! If this is how much I'd have to pay monthly just to play this game, I'd rather go back to pnp.15 bucks a month?

Very true, but at least when I buy a crpg I only pay once. I could live with paying 50 bucks a year, but even then, it better be one hell of a game.Ehm, ALL computer games steal time and money, one way or another.

Thats the best choice, I admit.Yikes! If this is how much I'd have to pay monthly just to play this game, I'd rather go back to pnp.
For example, WoW is one hell of a game - IMO.I could live with paying 50 bucks a year, but even then, it better be one hell of a game.

- no complete freedom and explorable outdoor areas like in WoW;
- completely instanced quests (no travels to destinations);
- no multiple towns;
- no PvP;
- no crafting/economy.
I'm almost 100% sure that I'll give it a try once it comes out, but I have doubts about it when I think about all these "flaws".
