Yes, your reading preferences show in your writing... Although I admit I'm impressed by your biotech-related stuff. Being a student in biology, I VERY often seethe when reading SF (damned, I would swear the authors never passed their sec. 3's biology class!!!! inter-species barrier, doesn't that mean anything to you!?!?). Your biology-related devil details were well chosen and plausible enough :) (that's a big compliment coming from me, eheh)
"I set on this journey trying to understand why has metal been stereotyped, dismissed, and condemned. My answer is this: if, listening to that music, you don't get that overwhelming rush of power that makes the hair stand at the back of your neck, you may never will. But you know what, it doesn't really matter. Because, judging from the 40 000 people around me, we're doing just fine without ya." :) Cheers! And two horns up for metalheads all around the world!

I started this series to see if I have the chops to write stuff almost as good as my favorite hard science fiction writers, Charles Sheffield, and Robert Foward. I am so pleased that I seem to be doing a good job. The hard science aspect remains a big priority, and I am very pleased you like it. Thanks!!! ;) ;) ;)

Nice work! I'd like to see more. Just a minor note about inter-species barrier, somehow it seem to less of a barrier than was thought, considering Aids, Swine and Bird Flu and their orgins.

Well, inter-species barrier always existed and biologists were always aware that it's not completely proof against inter-species transmission of diseases. Although (I guess I badly chose my vocabulary in English, since I would have called that "existence of zoonoses") I was refering to reproduction between species evolved on different planets, solar systems, or even galaxies. I mean, come on.

From what I read the aliens were geneticily altering humans not breeding with them, they wanted servants able to perform tasks requireing skills normal human were not capable of.

Humans were simplily tools, no more than that. The only reason they had in continuing there tinkering with the human genome, was that one wishs to have the best tools possible, there was NO sentiment for human as beings at all.

Hey UUF! Great to see your update! Man, I really enjoyed this chapter, even with the ah... event that you warned us about. :P. In fact, probably more so because of it. ^_^ . I also really liked the extract at the beginning... I started sniggering halfway through it and just couldn't stop :P.

Through lightning, travel shadow,
Through hell and all above,
Surviving sword and arrow,
Bound stronger by the love

***

And in the end a witness,
To where the death has lain,
Silent through the sorrow,
Where innocents lie slain

This is great User

I particulary liked the spinoffs you made to real organisations and characters in BG2 and so on.
The style is definetly something, and I've enjoyed myself so much, I havfta shake my head clear to continue on. :D

And I like the take on alien interaction with 'humans', makes you hate'em more and more. :)

Keep up the good work! :new_thumbs:

Hi Userunfriendly,

I'm glad you posted another chapter of this - it's up to the expectations I've been building about more technical hardcore science-fiction stuff :)

And we would all be happy if you gave up on everything else until you've finished this... What's a life for anyway? ;)

UUF! Sorry it's taken me so long to comment, but the homework and study demons from all nine levels of hell have been chasing me for a while. It's absolutely incredible to see you back with a new chapter ^_^. As polished as always in the science and character aspect of it well.

I do hope you'll be able to gift us with more soon :D
