Unfinished Business is the only mod I can think of that has quests and dialogs for Minsc. I don't think it changes his CRE file though.

Thanks, I'll just kick Minsc out and go through Irenicus's dungeon. If anything else comes up bug-wise, I'll let you guys know.

Fair enough, but there seems to be nothing wrong with dialogue. Are you able to reproduce this?

Sorry, but I installed the last beta (v0.99 beta3) and I can't make it work! I installed only standard BG2+ international patch + Baldurash weidu, then BGT weidu, without any CDs in drives. The installation process went smoothly but when I click on Baldur's Gate in the menu screen, the SoA intro movie starts, then the game crashes to desktop whit a windows error regarding bgmain. Have I missed something? Any clues? I have Italian version, does it matter? (by the way on the readme it says to choose language at the beginning of installation but I can't do it)
Thanks for the help, Raoul

You really have me stumped on this one. The Italian version shouldn't matter, you should just get English text interspersed with Italian stuff. You also can't choose a language yet because no one has translated, and with all the current development, I can't complain. Can you attach your DEBUG file? I don't think installing Baldurdash-WeiDU would have screwed up anything either.

Yes, here you are the 2 debug files (for BGT-prep and BGT-main).I didn't install the reduced XP component but I don't think it matters.

I can't attach files. I click on "add this attachment" but it doesn't attach nothing. Can I send you the files via mail? Thanks, Raoul

The problem is that the debug file is very big (more than 1 MB) and I cannot upload it.

Hi, first post and all. First I wanted to mention just how cool it has been to play trough the original BG and ToSC while running the BG2 engine and mods. I only heard about B2 mods last week so I have a lot of catching up to do. A great big thank you to all of the modders that made BGT possible.

Now to the real reason of my post. I've played trough the entire BG+ToSC without any problems (save one or two magic weapons still flagged as BG1 style weapons. Sword of Balduran and The Silver Dagger comes to mind).
But now when I've finished the last of the quests for ToSC there is no messenger around to bring me back to Belt and transit to BG2. Nor is there any indication that I've actually finished ToSC (the dwarf doesn't give me the hammer quest reward either).

Spawning BRDYEND results in a messenger greeting me welcome to Ulgoth's Beard. Which is odd since by the dialogue it sounds like this feller should have been present in the area the whole time, which he has not been.

I assume I've managed to break the mod by installing one of rules tweak mods (like ascension). Now I wonder if there's any way to set globals or spawn creatures to get around this unfortunate situation? Would hate to have played trough the entire game only to have such a small problem ruin everything at the finishing line.

I can't figure out what mod that caused this problem. I deliberatly installed only tweaks that I thought would have no impact whatsoever to BG+ToSC, and this problem is the only one I've encountered. I'm stumped.

Compression? Zip, Rar, Ace, whatever? Then rename the file to .txt and tell me what the original extension was.

The readme says in the troubleshooting that the messenger may have escaped into a house when the cultists attacked you for the dagger. Search around...the houses I mean. It is definitely in the readme. Did you ever talk to the messenger the first time you arrived in Ulgoth's Beard, he is a few 'squares' to the left of where you start. It is impossible for him to not appear because he is 'hard-coded' into the area file for all times. Anyway, you could always try to talk to BRDBYEND twice!

Thank you for the fast reply Ascension64. You are right of course. The messenger was indeed hiding inside a house. I did read the readme but as strange as it may seem he was not only inside a house but hiding behind a cupboard. Those cultists must have spooked him good!

Sadly he responds just as the spawned BRDBYEND. "Still investigating". It is as if the game have not registered that I've finished ToSC. I assume this is because of some fluke conserning the demon cult quest. I'm glad that the problem is simply caused by a minor bug and I can use an earlier save to hopefully work around it.

Thanks again for your assistance and best of luck to your continued efforts to remake Baldur's Gate into the epic it deserves to be.

Hmmm... sadly that did not work. Seems odd that the trouble should have been Werewolf Island or Shandalars Quest since they were wrapped up both quickly and neatly. Sorry for being longwinded about this but what global setting would activate the next set of dialogue with the messenger? Since all quests are finished (log empty) there must have been a some kind of bug after all.

EDIT: Using Infinity Explorer solved the whole "mystery". I can't stand the Tour of the Tower that Ike provides so I didn't take it. If you don't activate the tour (just talking to Ike and applying for the tour was enough) the messenger doesn't register that the quest is finished. Onto Baldur's Gate 2. :D

If you can't upload a log file, just open it with Notepad and cut and paste it into a reply here.

Attached File  SETUP_BGT_MAIN.txt   119.21K   211 downloadsAttached File  SETUP_BGT_PREP.txt   2.72K   232 downloads
The file setup-bgt-main was in RAR format. I opened it with wordpad, then I saved as a txt, I don't know if it's the right way. So take a look at it and tell me what's wrong in my installation, thanks! Raoul

Sir Billy Bob. thanks for the idea but that log is too long for a post. Anyways, the translation from RAR to TXT seems to have failed, because I tried downloading it but says corrupted archive...I'm thinking I'll never be able to play BGT!

The Prep log is worthless. It didn't fail there so it doesn't help any.

The Main file, was that a log file? This should be
SETUP-BGT-MAIN.DEBUG

Give that file a .TXT extension and try to upload it here.

The problem is that the file is too big (1,15 MB) so I can't upload. Anyways, I'm suspecting I don't have a correct BG1+Tosc installation: when I do the full install with all components it asks me to change CDs without errors but the install process ends at 75%. What is the correct size of a full BG1+Tosc install? (how many MBs is the folder?). Thanks.

Ah, I'd better note that...you have to at least accept Ike's quest. But I should change that so you at least talked to Ike instead of having to accept it. thanks for this one.

On my poor compy, the size is 2.50 GB (2,689,548,869 bytes) and the disk space it actually tok is 2.50 GB (2,689,787,392 bytes).

Mmm...I have 2,46 MB and 2,47 MB on disk, but Italian version. I don't know, it could be a damaged CD with some files missing, but I think an error would result. Any solution about the debug file attachment?
