Normally i don't play for the conversations but recently i noticed that sarevok doesn't say anything in the scripted dialogue. no response to jan/imoen/viconia's questions so he can never make the conversion to chaotic good or hold a conversation.

is this problem exclusive to me or something everyone has to live with?

Well, first you should give us more details about your installation. Posting what is in your WeiDU.log file would be good.

Current Installation: BP+BGT+NEJ+DSotSC+NTotSC+item upgrades+dungeon be gone+Shorter Better transition+improved world map

i had the same configuration minus NToSC and same problem occured. which is why i unstalled everything and started from scratch.

Thinking out loud: seanas BP_s_and_h_patch supposedly fixes Sarevok TOB interjections - perhaps that didn't take in my installation.

that's a common problem, and one that is fixed by one mod or another, but i can't remember which one at the moment - is it ease-of-use? it's a non-BP mod, anyway, cos it's actually a problem in basic BGII which was fixed a long time ago (it might even be baldurdash) but migrated over to BP.

so altho it doesn't help you a great deal, this is a: a known problem, and b: a fixed one. i'll see if i can remember where it's fixed; and i might port it over to the s_and_h patch if it's somewhere obscure.

which you've already got installed.

ok, i've gone and uploaded version 7 of the patch to my site - check my .sig for the link. this version is the one i'm running on my install, so it ain't perfect either, but it *is* the one i thought i'd uploaded back in january, cos yeah, that version 6 patch sucked bigtime. i *do* know that i'm not having that sarevok problem in my current install, so at least *that* problem has been fixed between v6 and v7.

won't install... didn't like worldmap or DSotSC or NTotSC.
....removing them and trying again

ok got it installed, testing it now.
also my sorc/dual classed mage never seemed to get summon planetar HLA. wasnt this fixed by ur patch aswell?

Still doesn't work. forced dialogue jan/imoen/viconia they start their respective parts and there is no reply.

same setup as before except using S_and_H patch 7.

any idea what might be wrong?

Hmm, Sarevok in your savegame might have an incorrect dialogue assignation. Do you have NI or DLTCEP to check that his dialogue is correctly set as SAREV25J.DLG?

Can you post BALDUR.GAM of your savegame having the problems here? It is probably best to compress it first, but you need to rename the attachment to a .txt file otherwise the forum will reject it.

if theres nothing essentially wrong with my setup maybe i just can't force a dialogue with sarevok, ill play through and see if he responds. but im not holding out any hope.

what about more straightforward solutions? is everyone involved in the dialogue visible? is yr pc, imoen, or sarevok hiding in shadows or otherwise not visible?

ok then, manually-fixing-the-dodgy-file time.

find and open the file INTERDIA.2DA - with any luck it's in yr override folder, and yuo can open it with any text editor - ie, notepad works fine.

find the entry for SAREVOK: if sarevok isn't speaking correctly, it'll probably look like:

SAREVOK   NONE   SAREV25

you want to replace SAREV25 with BSAREV25 (ie, add a B in front of SAEV25), so thayt it looks like:

SAREVOK   NONE   BSAREV25

then save the file as INTERDIA.2DA in yr override folder, and then sarevok will have something to say to you, and you'll be able to convert him.

if, on opening INTERDIA.2DA you find it already has BSAREV25, then i'm out of ideas, but i rather doubt you will...

tried it...and it worked!

finally sarevok speaks and all it took was 1 letter. thx for your help.

but im still curious why it didn't work in the first place, something not go right in installation?

yeah, it mustn't have worked in the installation. there's a post by KD in the 's_and_hv6 released thread' indicating that sometimes, the coding i had used to fix this doesn't take; he suggested an alternative which i've included in the v7 patch which apparently *does* work. (and if you tried the v7 and it didnt.. err, i've actually made changes to it since i uploaded it, without documenting or announcing them - including the IDS problem you reported. bad me - but then the v7 is an interim fix, only for use if things go wrong, so i don't feel *so* bad about it ;) ).

hmm looks like i'll try that patch again since viconia doesn't want to initate dialogue anymore, sure she'll respond but i wanna know what she has to say to sarevok. and get her to convert aswell.

i'm tempted to uninstall the lot and play it 'vanilla'..... or maybe make things worse by using the weidu versions :P

thank's for this thread. i had the same prob (interdia.2da sarev25 -> bsarev25) so now i will see if it work and no spell convert2light is needed :rolleyes:
