Boo as a familar

Looking through the mods I noticed one that allowed you to have boo as a npc. Could it be treated more as a familiar? As in able to go back into his pocket?

Instead of being powerful, it could simply be hard to detect hidden character. Useful for scouting out an area. Even able to go through doors? (by going under them) But also easily killed (minc could get REALLY pissed if you got his best friend killed). Just some thoughts. :)

Minsc would go berserk permanently, if after loosing his witch (a fact that expells hi from Rashemen permanently IIRC), he would also loose his only friend. Why not get a ferret familiar or a cat to scout that area and risk your own health?

Doesn't Weimer's Solaufein mod give you Boo2 as a familiar for Jan who can do scouting and return to the backpack?

In Tortured Souls (and maybe in NEJ as well, I would not know) Boo gains familiar status and becomes separated from Minsc if you have Sime in the party and chose to keep Minsc during a certain banmter between the two.

Isn't there a part of Unfinished Business were Boo gets stolen?
