I'd suggest, for simplicity sake--find a server on gamespy already running it (or from the forum links, see the sticky topic), and just play. You'll only need the cep, prc, and the nordock-cep-prc hak/tlk player set, and you're good to go. It's really a multiplayer, server persistent world--not the good story single player type of mod. And getting the mysql, etc working right has proven a pain for many.
Otherwise, if you want to go the other way--yes, it all works fine, most of what I have left to do is pure enhancement. Follow the directions carefully (just like for BP ), check the forum topics, look up one of the install guides by users here, and so on, and so on. And if you get stumped, don't be afraid to ask. If I can't answer it, somebody around here likely can.

I never got into the idea of playing on a server, like the Everquest model. I've got the three NWN games and CEP, have no clue what PRC would be besides the People's Republic of China. Don't know that I could handle this mod on my own and I don't know if I'd enjoy playing online. Around Christmastime I bailed on my last install of BP-BGT-NEJ et al . . . I just couldn't keep it working reliably. Everytime I tinkered with something, something else would go belly up. It's good to hear that your RL seems to be returning to some kind of normalcy. Mine may well after August, I've accepted a new teaching position in another state. As for gaming, for awhile, I was working on making an NPC mod for Keiria Silverstrings. I can do concepts, dialog, voiceovers, and a jumble of other things that are all pretty much useless when it comes to creating a mod. I started running a p and p campaign based in Zakhara, and I plowed back into NWN, vowing to complete as much of the game as possible.

PRC is actually a cool thing--Player's Resource Consortium. It adds about 50-60 new races, 100 or so new prestige classes, 100's of new spells, 1000's of new feats, and much more. Basically, you just gotta put their hak's in the hak folder and you're set.
The hard part about this is setting up a MySQL server. It's necessary because this world is based around persistent data--you can shut down your server, shut off your PC, whatever--it remembers how many
HP you had last, where you were at in the world, if you were dead, and so on--without using a Save Game. Other things that you'd want reset (encounters, treasure, faction reputations, stores, etc) are reset (they wouldn't be in a save game).
Now, if you're just looking for a good story to play through, I'd suggest some of those top-rated modules. Adam Miller's Shadowlord/Dreamcatcher saga, and Savant's Aeiland Trilogy, come to mind as some of the best mod's I've played--original BW definitely included in that assessment (those two blow them away!).
Well-thought out, in-depth engrossing plots, very well-developed henchmen, full of character and individuality (and plenty of relevant banter) and challenging battles and dilemma's to sort through.
