Hello to all!

I have just found the new Nordock Plagued version, but am having trouble getting it to function.
I had run the classic version for a while, as it was a drop in and play situation. But with this one, I am at a loss. The instructions speak of doing this and that with the assumption that I understand the process' involved to complete those steps.
I must say, all the info on tables, db's, and scripts has me baffled. I have read the instructions, but it translates to the visual equivalent of an adult in the world of Charlie Brown. "Bwah Bwah-bwah Bwah Bwah Bwah".
So I'm appealing to anyone here willing to make the effort to take a lowly newcomer in hand with help on a detailed set of instruction, that I may get this, (from as far as I can tell,) incredible mod working.

Thanks for your time,

Priest

Ok, I got the mod installed and running with characters copied to the servervault folder.
But now my problems continue.
I know all twenty something of you are either just on a break from ending world hunger, or you're waiting for someone to answer your posted questions. But it sure would be nice if someone would take a few minutes to help out.

So, have it working, running on SQlite through the NWNX2. I have not clue one about the database, and I've experienced no long wait times for either new or imported characters.

Problems:
A. Went to import "functions_include.erf" to the module for NWNX2 functions, but the toolset says it cannot import files with over sixteen characters in the name. SO, I changed it to, "functionsinclude.erf". Could this be causing the below problems, and how do I remedy?

1. Buy a canteen, go to well, use. Message, "You filled the canteen". Proceed to    attempt to use the canteen; message, "The canteen is empty,...." etc. No water = No rest = very frustrating first outing into Nordock.

2. NPC's aren't as chatty as they should be? Guards, Elf Citizens, etc. No one has anything to say. Not even an, "I'm busy, sod off". Is that normal?

3. A whole lot of, "You may not rest at this time". But whether its due to area, or the lack of water is beyond me.

SO, come on and give a hand. This is a great mod, from what little I can see of it. The biggest disappointment is a community that writes all day about how, "Well, in step 16 you have to do this, this, and this; all possible because you did this in step 10. See, it's that simple". And everyone oooh's and aaah's and puckers up to smooch some rump. All the while, those of us who haven't a clue are wondering what happened to steps 1-9. For those of you who might remember "Better Off Dead", I'm definitely feeling like Lane Meyer (John Cusack), in Trig class, where everyone is in on the joke but me.

So for Pete's sake, take a few minutes out of your busy schedule, and help not only me, but everyone who feels   when faced with going beyond the basic instructions.

Thus endeth the sermon,

AAAAAAAH, I watch that number steadily creep up. When will help be forthcoming? If ever? What's the ratio? 1 reply to every 40 views?
What a load of crap.

With any due respect, and yes, I know this is all free, but....

PROPERLY DOCUMENT YOUR F' ING WORK FOR THE LAYMAN!

I don't care if you're doing this with no pay or not enough people kiss your buttocks, or whatever your hangups are. If you do something like this, make it accessible to the layperson. Others do it without a single complaint, so why can't any of you?

And for those of you who will bash me for not being patient, blah, blah, blah. Kiss my *ss, as you're all just part of the problem. Shame on me that I've spent the last 36 hours trying to get this !#$#%% thing working in the hopes that my kids and I could play. I've been to every F' ing forum, every F'ing link, and every F'ing one assumes that I know the first thing about editing a script. Every F'ing one thinks that I can adjust "inc_Letoscript.nss", when according to my comp, the F'ing thing doesn't F'ing exist. Every F'ing one says to go to the MySQL Command Console, when mine refuses to function.

Tables, scripts, databases. You all bandy about like this is a cakewalk for everyone. You give no BASIC instruction, but say "DO THIS".

What a bunch of Bullsh*t

Maybe you and your kids should play online where someone has allready done the hard work of setting up this module. It is NOT noob friendly.
Maybe no one can help you cus it will just sound like "Bwah Bwah-bwah Bwah Bwah Bwah"
Maybe all the smart people are on holiday.
Maybe they dont like being told to kiss your ass!
Maybe you could read the direction again, they worked fine for me.
Maybe this will help, maybe not I dont realy care.

Every F'ing one thinks that I can adjust "inc_Letoscript.nss", when according to my comp

inc_Letoscript.nss is one of the many scripts included in the module, You have to open the module in the toolset to edit it, then compile all the scripts in the module. If you cant do this give up now.

So, have it working, running on SQlite through the NWNX2. I have not clue one about the database, and I've experienced no long wait times for either new or imported characters.

The directions I read said to install mysql, it wont work with SQlite, maybe thats why your mysql console dont work, if you cant deal with mysql command line stuff try  MySQL Control Center.

A. Went to import "functions_include.erf" to the module for NWNX2 functions, but the toolset says it cannot import files with over sixteen characters in the name. SO, I changed it to, "functionsinclude.erf". Could this be causing the below problems, and how do I remedy?

Thats not in the directions its to add NWNX2 to a module, its allready done, you dont need to import anything.

1. Buy a canteen, go to well, use. Message, "You filled the canteen". Proceed to attempt to use the canteen; message, "The canteen is empty,...." etc. No water = No rest = very frustrating first outing into Nordock.

Can not help you here as I turned this off for my server, but its probably datasbase related.

2. NPC's aren't as chatty as they should be? Guards, Elf Citizens, etc. No one has anything to say. Not even an, "I'm busy, sod off". Is that normal?

Thats normal.

3. A whole lot of, "You may not rest at this time". But whether its due to area, or the lack of water is beyond me.

I turned most of this off too, next someone will want to add "You did not take your crap today so you are constipated attack decreased until you find a john somewhere" I like realism but not when it gets in the way of having fun. I think only in the city areas you are rest restricted but you can rest in the inn's if you buy a key or go out side of the city and risk getting jumped.

good luck, and may the force be with you

Just *had* to chime in here....DUDE CALM DOWN. I came to this mod a while back with ZERO experience beyond making a couple lame mods myself using the toolset and wanting more. No db experience or experience with ANY of the apps/widgets/tools used in this mod. People will help you if you dont come out swinging and *expecting* someone to go out of their way for you while you tell them to kiss your ass.

Having said that, I feel your pain as I was (still am) a noob to this and have learned a couple things. I'll give you some advice, take it or leave it.

Take the readme file in the download package and read it a couple times. TRY a clean install. Go grab all the packages that are documented there and put them in a common folder, then install them/extract them one by one according to Horred's instructions.

If you dont understand how to setup MySQL or any other pieces, see this install guide one of the others here posted (link below). Some of it may not be 100% up to date, but much of the confusing stuff explained in the various links there is 100% accurate.

http://arcanummagika.us/NWN/start.html <--- if there's a better how-to link or one more up to date, maybe someone can provide it.

Make sure you grab the versions of all the pieces needed from the links in the README as they are the most recent.

Afterwards, pay attention to the instructions from the link above, they work fine:

Part 1: setting up mysql - there are notes at the bottom of the page that you have to do after installing mysql.
Part 2: follow instructions if you want to run the standalone server app. If you want to just use the server app that came w/NWN, only pay attention to editing the INI file documented there. I use the server app that came w/NWN.
Part 3 - 7: follow instructions
Part 8: IGNORE - FF isnt used in v11
Part 9 - 10: follow instructions

See http://www.shsforums...showtopic=14476 for instructions on how to import Horred's sql data to eliminate slowness in character building and creation of db tables.

Test it yourself as a player. If something blows up in your face, go back to the beginning and double/triple/quadruple check that you've followed all instructions to the letter. Remember you can ignore alot of the verbage in the existing howto's and readme about upgrading if you start clean.

Uninstall what you've done (not the game, just the mods/pieces) and start again.

Recently after a computer crash, I came back to this clean, and following those instructions was up and running in about 90 mins, and that included testing.

If you have questions, post them here in a polite way and someone will answer them.

Good luck.

Holiday weekend in the US, of course it was. And the drive-thru window was closed.

Having been insulted without even getting the chance to view this thread, I have nothing to say nor add. Besides: Thank the people that overlooked your impatience and rudeness, and decided to help anyways.
