I got to thinking - if Chrysta proves to be an effective thief-with-druidic-abilities as she is envisaged (and as she seems to be working out to be quite nicely at the moment), just how useful is she going to be? And, come to think of it, how easy is it going to be to integrate her into an effective group?

The poll at the top is really just for fun, as the combination of NPCs listed are highly unlikely to match anyone's preferred combo (although it would be interesting to see if anyone DOES like any of the combos listed!).

However, the point of this thread is a semi-serious one. I want to know how easy people would integrate a druidic-thief into a workable party for BG2:SoA, so I am asking for people to make a "best guess" of what PC class and what NPCs you might expect to take through your first run-through the Chrysta mod when it is eventually released. It strikes me that if people have trouble thinking of a balanced group that contains a druidic-thief, then maybe Chrysta may be of limited appeal. Which would, naturally, make me cry like a wikkle baby. :crying:

With the above in mind (other than the unmanly crying-type bit), I would be really interested if people could post their first thoughts on:
  • What PC might you be most likely to play in your first Chrysta mod game (race, class, alignment etc.)?
    .
  • What NPCs do you think you are likely to take along with you on the run-through?
A few thoughts as to why you have made the choices wouldn't go amiss as well, if you are feeling chatty. :thumb:

The Marx Brothers, OF COURSE. Duh.

Nah actually, a good combo in my opinion would be the following:
Minsc
Jaheira
Imoen/Yoshimo
another good fighter, like Keldorn, Valygar, or even Mazzy
a fighter/mage pc (multiclass so it's an elf or half-elf, but hey I just like that sprite...)

It depends on whether my first play-through with Chrysta is a male (for the romance) or a female. If I play with a male PC, then I would probably take Haer'Dalis, Anomen, and Keldorn. I would probably play some sort of mage, and the last slot could be for Jaheira (whom I love having around) or a modded NPC (because I have a hard time leaving them *all* behind! )

For a female, I do not know *what* I would play yet. But I voted that there is no spoon because, well, there really is no spoon! :P

Tough question, this. What kind of Druidic abilities does she get, and how fast do they grow? I always bring Jaheira along for the fast Druid growth to level 6 magic (Heal), and because she's still good in a fight. If Chrysta gets her healing spells as quickly as Jaheira, I'd switch her out. And depending on her thieving skills, I'd drop Jan as well (though I often take him along simply because he's so far the funniest BG2 NPC ever :D). Minsc is an almost must-have, perhaps Keldorn, always Imoen (never have been able to leave her behind).

So that leaves me with Me, Chrysta, Imoen, Minsc and depending on circumstances Jan and/or Jaheira and/or Keldorn. If I don't play a Cleric myself, pick one of these three and put in Aerie instead.

As for the poll answer: I agree with Sillara. There is no spoon, only a fork.

No plans - depends who I feel like at the time. All I can really say is that it won't be an evil PC and there won't be any evil NPCs. I never play with either. If I had to guess it would be a PC that can melee up front, two BioWares + Imoen later, Chrysta and whatever other mod NPC looks good at the time.

PC: Half-Elf/ Bard(Skald)/ Chaotic Good. Nuff said :D
NPC; Viconia
Jaheira
Arie (I sure do love those cat fights)
And as soon as they can't stand eachother nomore I'll put in Minsc, Yoshimo/Imoen and Jan "McTurnip" Jansen :D ...and I'll probably take Valygar for a while too.

I usually keep Minsc around.
Usually Imoen as well (and Yoshimo).
I like Viconia, and drop Jahiera for her sometimes.
The rest are PC, mod-NPC, and the one I pick up for his/her quest, then drop and pick up another for a quest (Cernd, Nalia, Valygar, etc.)
I have never played Jan, and don't think I ever will.
I tend towards CN alignments, and usually play mage, ranger or druid.

And, of course, no spoon.
It is my firm belief that it is a mistake to hold firm beliefs.

PC: Human Fighter/Cleric
Yasraena (or Willie Bruce)
Jaheira (till she bitches about visiting the Harpers then... see ya!) then Keldorn probably.
Yocheesemo replaced with Imoen
Ghareth

Valygar and Minsc... no.

Something like that. But, with so many NPCs who knows so the end result:

I have an idea, but DEFINITELY none of the above!!!

Hmmm... I suppose I should contribute to this little discussion as well. ;)

The way things are shaping up with NPC relationships, banters, exploring Chrysta's nature and background etc. are concerned, a good party including Chrysta might be as follows:

PC
Chrysta
Edwin
Viconia
Jaheira
Yoshimo/Imoen

I would have fitted Minsc, Valygar, Haer'Dalis and Jan Jansen in as well if I could. :D

I do want to stress, however, that we are working on giving equal attention to banter content and frequency for each of the Bioware NPCs - as things currently stand, there will be a minimum of 5 banters per Bioware NPC of a similar length and quality to the Minsc one already given in the Screenshot thread. And the way banters are developing may result in modifications to the above list, which pays as much attention anyway to party balance as it does to banters and interactions.
