Late last year, even.
And for what it's worth, we can open .rar files just fine, too. The only problem files are self-extracting .exes, and even some of them can be expanded without any problems.
Umm.. not that it matters much...

Ah yes, self extracting .exe's are what I was getting confused with

For what it's worth, they really annoy me. I'll never understand why so many IE mod makers insist on using them - using .zips or .rars damnit!
Fortunately it seems Quitch is one of the "good guys"

Putting an uninstall option would'nt be to much to ask would it, I can't remember the amount of times I've had to uninstall and reinstall BG2 due to someones mod leaving files after I've removed it.

As far as RAR/ACE goes, i prefer rar, but that's because i've been using it much longer. Their on par with each other and i can get a few files to get smaller on ACE and vis versa on RAR.
Zip i keep around only because some sites (and people) require me to use zip format.

My experience has always been that RAR provides better compression than ACE.
