I wanna know what happened to Balduran either before or after he sailed into the sun. He always struck me as a bit cool.

i) what about focusing on another Bhaalspawn? (go on, I dare you. Come up with one problem for that that i can't come up with a solution to )
ii) What about Gorion. How did he start out? How did he become so dam powerful? And why does his magic missile spell rox more than yours ever can? (*sob*)

And one final thing: where is this information available on the web? I wanna find somewhere that this is "Official." There have been rumours kicking around for YEARS. I want conformation before i start buying party balloons. Especially as I'm donig A levels atm. Don't want sleepless nights in the middle of exams for nothing....

The link features an earlier discussion of the matter with an exact copy of an article in PC Gamer. Everything else than what that article says, is rumors.
I think being another Bhaalspawn is a good solution... But I also love the idea of meeting Balduran, and as the article states that it is set in the early days of Baldur's Gate, who knows?

Though the article does seem somewhat strange: they couldn't even spell Minsc's name correctly; "Minsk"
Pity about 3D graphics. *wrinkles her conservative nose* And pity about IE. Not all changes are for the better, IMO.

*Prays he doesn't read this topic*
Yeah it is a pity. But maybe Hights promise ("it will be epic") will hold. Though that would be a first for Atari. I'm not about to drop BGIII BEFORE I've played it.
Let's hear who the developer is first and foremost. Maybe it's a new one, with lots of ideas, creativity and such, and no laziness. One can hope.

Hmm...if it comes out it will be a miracle...people have been clamouring for it for years...and as long as they don't turn it into a cash cow, then things should be ok...I just hope that whoever is in charge of it has the sense, if it is not nearly as good as it should be, to put the lid on it and say: no more!

Hmm. Ok..That article appears all over the place, but Atari don't have anything on their website, and neither do PCGamer. So is this all the info we have? That was what, nearly a year ago? And they still haven't announced who they have working on it?

And that was me, but I'm a muppet and my computer account has crashed, so I forgot to sign in.

I'm sad to say that is the only official thing we have. I've followed the evolvement of the BGIII discussion close for a long time now on many forums but that's all I've seen that's 100% from Atari's own mouth (or Hights for that matter).
If anyone has heard anymore than this that are 100% surely not rumors please post it here.
I really don't mind whether it comes or not. If it comes, yipee, a new BG, but it could be lousy, if it doesn't come, sad, no more BG, but at least the legacy is retained and has only been raped by Dark Alliance.

Just because you don't like a certain genre of game (action RPGs in this case) doesn't mean all games of that genre are bad games... and of the action RPG genre as a whole, the two DAs are some of the best examples (certainly superior to the Diablo series).
I personally dislike flight simulators, but I don't go around saying that MS Flight Simulator is rubbish, or whatever.

Both Dark Alliances are far superior to ToB.
You'll never get me to agree with you. I played both, and didnt like either. They were both too generic and too hard
And the front rank died
And the general sat and the lines on the map
Moved from side to side.

I've never liked Action(not)RPG because it has nothing to do with roleplaying. They might as well just call it an action/adventure game.

Both ToB and DA2 certainly have the same degre of linearity, with each chapter having numerous optional quests and the main quests often being completeable in slightly different orders.
