Logged onto muaddib's server (havent verified this for myself yet on my build, my server has been down for other reasons) and accepted the Trondor quest, took the ship to Trondor, ran away as fast as I could from the overwhelming HOARD of creatures on the farm, and fought a couple wolves and a panther.
I also bought a copper skinning knife.
When i try to skin a creature, it still yaks at me as if I am not holding the skinning knife.
Dont know if this is localized to muaddib's server or a v9 problem, but for what its worth...

where did you find a copper skinning knife at? that is a leftover from the ATS system, that must have slipped through the wires. Take your ass to the tradehall and start making a set of tools. Start with a shovel--then make a pickaxe, then make a skinning knife, gem chisel, and woodcutter's axe.
I recommend making a set of 3 of each, cause they can break on you at the worst possible moment. Also, buy a set of tinker's toolbox recipe cards. They are a great guide for the beginning crafter, to get his toolset built up. Activate them by using their unique power.

I think I bought the copper skinning knife in Trondor (?). I'll check out the crafting method.
