i have already used horreds sql file and it all imported fine with no errors and made the tables but it made no difference , it still took an age in the builder mod and the main mod no longer appeared under gamespy listings, i rechecked all the nwnplayer ini settings, rebuilt the database with horreds file,.the problem is with my os i thinx its messed up somewhere, almost finished emptying the drive for format...need coffeealso it only takes that long to build characters at first, but the more characters and races are built the quicker this becomes. Also horred has posted his database file. If you use this file to build your tables then this will take a HUGE chunk out of this process.

For what its worth, I spent about 5-6 hours total making characters on my own. One sat there during the 0%...0%...1%... process so long he died of thirst/hunger (seriously). After I made a handful of characters using a mix of races/classes/feats, the char creation process is very smooth now. The only time I see long build times is if I build a char that I havent done before (ie, the first Bard I built took about 2 hours).
I am a Network Engineer by trade and support Windows, linux, solaris, etc, have for almost 10 years now. I have to say Win2003 server is *flaky*. Mickeysoft changed the underpinnings of security/encryption and deviated from the standards the rest of the world uses (what a shocker...) and it broke a whole pile of things used in the corporate world (samba access on *nix servers, for example).
The default install of Win2003 server also turns on a bunch of security related crap (and yes I mean *crap*) that you have to deliberately go in and massage - much of this affects performance, depending on how you use the server (local lan vs. wide area network, file server, app server, etc).
One last comment on Win2003 - there is a developer at my place of work who runs a large (50+ players 24/7) NWN server that recently moved to Win2003. They enjoy complete NWN server crashes almost hourly since the move. They are going back to Win2k or WinXP.
For what its worth...

Not saying you can not use it.... I just noticed the problem.... in fact.. I can now host twon mods where I couldn't before...
In fact , with Win2k3 my friends kept getting booted..... Not it runs smooth with Win2k3...
You take all this as you want.... I wish you the best of luck with it.. but I HATE Dicking with an OS to make it stable even after a clean install.... UUGGGHHH...
I have messed with this enough to not have to worry about the OS as well....
Hell, my canteen problem STILL isn't fix... UUGGGHHH..... Oh well...
Good Luck my friend...
