BGT or Baldur's Gate Trilogy

BGT is a mod that allows you to play Baldur's Gate, Tales of the Sword Coast, Shadows of Amn, and Throne of Bhaal as one game. When you finish Baldur's Gate (ie, when you defeat Sarevok) you move on to SoA with all your party as you last had them, two will die if they are still alive and the rest will either come with you or you meet them in Amn. You can download the mod here. BGT-WeiDU is currently available, and is strongly recommended to anyone wishing to play BGT.

BP-BGT is a different mod. With BP-BGT you got BGT with all the added stuff from BP. BP-BGT made BG1 a whole new game with Horred's great enemy AI, added mods like BoneHill, DSotSC, and NTotSC and fully functional BG2 and TDD spells. Download here for the files that you need to make BGT work with BP.

The recently released BP-weidu has made obsolete the old BP-BGT - now, if you wish to use Horred's improved AI, you no longer need to install TDD, SoS, or TS. you still can install these, and other large mods - CtB, DSotSC, NTotSC, BoneHill, NEJ2, however, along with yr BP install (or yr BGT install). BP-BGT now refers to whichever combination of these mods - the BP family - that you choose to install.

Definitely! Very nice move Chev!

Let me add something:

What BP is
BP stands for The Big Picture. This is a compatibility mod that allows to integrate most of the currently existing large mods as well as several smaller mods into one giant game. BP is an active ongoing project with the overall goal of making as many mods compatible with each other as possible.

Since new forum visitors are often overwhelmed by all the abbreviations that are used let me give a brief list of commonly installed mods, their abbreviations and the authors:

- Baldur's Gate Trilogy (BGT) by Bardez (original BGT no longer supported, but supported as part of BP-BGT on this forum)
- The Darkest Day (TDD) by Potencius (Max) and Minto - Tweaked by folks at TeamBG (original TDD no longer supported, but supported as part of BP on this forum)
- Shadows over Soubar (SoS) by CBisson (support forum)
- Tortured Souls (TS) by Vlad (home page)
- Neverending Journes Part 1 (NeJ) by Vlad (home page)
- Check the Bodies (CtB) by CBisson (support forum / home page)
- Secret of Bonehill (BH) by Sir BillyBob (support forum)
- Dark Side of the Sword Coast (DSotSC) by TeamBG, ported to BP-BGT by Sir BillyBob (support forum)
- Northern Tales of the Sword Coast (NTotSC) by Aurelinus, ported to BP-BGT by Sir BillyBob (support forum)

Does the BG2 engine completely take over? In other words, do I get to choose difficulty settings for BG1 and use higher screen resolutions?

Should have asked this as well - do the additional classes/kits and BG2 weapon slots exist in BG1?

Yes, think of it as 'Someone made a mod for BG2 - the story is that of BG1'.
