I've been having a lot of problems with Kido's dialogue lately, that I ended up having to Ctrl-Y & ressurect him to get through twice now. While talking to both Balthazar in Amkethran (I saw that this was mentioned on this thread) and Carston in Watcher's Keep, the dialogue just stopped in the middle, even if I reloaded, restarted the game, restarted my computer etc. Any suggestions on how to stop this from happening, or a better solution than repeatedly killing him off?

*Edit: The second time I talked to Carston, there was another problem. Options 2 & 3 were both saying the same thing to Kido, but whichever one I clicked just kicked me out of the conversation. Except once, where Kido was kicked out of my party, came and told me the next line of dialogue, and then just stood around, not a part of my party anymore, though this didn't happen more than once, even though I tried each of the 2 options more than once.

Which version is this? If it is Kido version 4.1 or lower then the Balthazar bug is known and should be fixed now in version 5.0. The way to get around it is indeed unfortunately kill the dude. Kick him out for the moment. Or

...
I just had this Balthazar problem, as well. I had to uninstall Kido, talk to Balthazar and then reinstall Kido. It worked fine when I did that. Although I think I read I could have just killed Kido to make it work. Other than that it has worked very well.

Carston is new to me... I assume it is the Lum the Mad interjection

Did you get twice the following sentence?:

Kido, do you have any idea on how to operate this machine of Lum the Mad?

After breaking the glass?

Or do you mean the following interjection:

Hm, Lum the Mad? Oh wait a second, Lum the Mad, powerful and brilliant inventor dash wizard. Somehow he 

was able to make magic and machinery work together. Only Gnomes can probably do that, I reckon. He was 

always a bit on the dangerous side though thanks to his somewhat mental instability. Now why does that sound 

familiar? No matter. Anyways, I would be carefull around this 'Lord of the Level' guy. If he knows just the 

slightest bit on how to work the machine, he could be dangerous to say the least.

That occurs when you first walk up to him.

And are you in ToB part of the game or before? And did you get them the first time you talked to Kido the second time you came around to playing Watchers Keep or was it the second time you began talking to Carston?

Sorry to ask so many question, but I fail to see why it happened... It seems correctly coded so to say and this is the first report of it... with said different outcomes, which should be impossible for coding goes one way and has no randomished structure at that point.

I am in TOB right now. I only have Kido 4.1 installed (didn't know version 5 was out yet). I didn't get the first interjection with Carston, but got kicked out of the dialogue, and again could only solve it by killing Kido. I'm trying to remember what happened with the second one. Uploading Kido version 5.1 now. Pulled out the double conversation possibility for apparently dialogue things transcend from SoA and ToB and corrected it.
I looked up with IE the interjection should just be fine and only comes up when Carston starts talking about Lum the Mad.
Corrected the mistake causing the breakdown of the question. I unfortunately did a little to much ctrl c, ctrl v work and any question would lead back to a dialogue called gormad instead of gorcar (the one of carston), since gormad doesn't have that many lines it went beserk. Corrected it.

On top of that, I just got to talk to Cyric, who completely ignored Kido, which I somehow doubt should happen, though I may be wrong.

And I'll answer any other questions you have, since I want to figure out what's going on as much as you do!


Corrected. That took a little of trial and error with installing and re-installing, but there was an interjection, unfortunately I cut it short by programming it so that cutscene after it would surely fire... it fired before kido could speak, causing the weird silence were indeed there should be something.

Thank you so much! I'm going to install 5.1 right away.

By the way, if you don't delete all of the other Kido files before installing the newest versions, it makes him not talk any more. So just don't install over an old version, but uninstall the old, then delete any Kido files kicking around before you install the newer one.

This is probably the last time you'll have to deal with me (for a while), since I've actually made it to the last battle with my Evil Party. Still a Cyric problem, though not a game-ending one. I installed Kido 5.1, went and talked to Cyric, and when he "looked over my party" and I pressed continue, I got kicked out of the dialogue. But I just talked to Cyric again, and he zapped the rest of my party out and talked to me, then the battle commenced, yadda yadda. So it wasn't a serious problem.

I'm beginning to think that one of my other mods isn't working well with Kido or something. I'll look through the forum and see if anyone else has had a mod problem.

Still, even with the weirdness, I absolutely love Kido. He is one of the most amusing mods I've run into, and that's probably why it was the party he was in that I was first able to enjoy long enough to run to the end of the game (I have a lot running right now...), so I definitely want to figure out what's going on, for next time I play a party that would suit his temperament.

Blast... now I don't understand that, according to IE it should run fine. I just check up on it once more, perhaps I changed my installed version, but forgot to add the last change to the download one... would be stupid (the difference being between INTERJECT END and INTERJECT COPY_TRANS oh well better not throw coding stuff at your head).

I'm beginning to think that one of my other mods isn't working well with Kido or something. I'll look through the forum and see if anyone else has had a mod problem.

Still, even with the weirdness, I absolutely love Kido. He is one of the most amusing mods I've run into, and that's probably why it was the party he was in that I was first able to enjoy long enough to run to the end of the game (I have a lot running right now...), so I definitely want to figure out what's going on, for next time I play a party that would suit his temperament.


I am sorry for the weirdness (which are the bugs right, not kido :unsure: :P). Carston and Cyric at least go a lot better now. I am very very pleased with your ccomment about you liking him so much (wonders if he should start a praise topic... nah to ego boosting).

I must say I do not entirely get your last sentence... what do you want to figure out? Kido's main reason to travel with you should be clear to you as played untill the end battle and thus Kido should give advice at the solar conversation... choose a different ending and you can see the two different endings there are for him and you ought to know a lot.... or are you implying the hood-thing or the how-he-can-nag-good-guys thing? In the last case... consider a nutball party so to say:
* Minsc (fighter)
* Jan (your thief-mage)
* HD (with his magic can make a good back-up fighter or mage)
* Kido (well... you want him don't you ;))
* Yourself (cleric (if you wish most dialogue options with Kido (beside some stat requirements, and no I am not going to give it all away))
* Imoen/Aerie/Jaheira/Mazzy/Korgan (be carefull, but is possible!)/Sarevok (so anyone you like with some nice interactions with the rest)

I know I had fun with this combo. It is good for adventure, a challenge (as it is isn't an über strong party) and a hell of laugh (or at least I hope)
... and yeah, long waiting step in the lab ;)

The party I just finished was Kido, Edwin (w/ Romance), Viconia, Jaheira (though she was not happy about it), Chloe, and myself as a fighter/thief. Which I have to say, was just fun...though I don't think it's really possible to have a boring party in this game.

Ran into an issue here. I was going through HDs quest (planar prison and all that jazz). I go down to the basement of the five flagons inn, i believe is the name, and kido leaves the party and goes back upstairs. When I follow him back up, he comes up to me and asks me if I really want him to leave. I do have quite a few mods, so i assume some random incompatability popped up on me, but thought I would let you know and see if maybe someone else has/had this issue.

Sorry, Brad, totally overlooked this. I haven't heard of this before, though I assume a lot of persons go through that quest ... luckily it is not a game breaking thing. I would say probably a script went of a bit weird. Did you try and load a previous save game and see if it happened again? If it does, I really need to look into it.

This happened while the group encountered Mellissan for the first time, when Volo was talking him, when entering the barracks in Saradush, and when encountering the soldiers in the oasis. I'm beginning to suspect that none of Kido's dialogues will run in ToB.

I was hoping to finally finish my game with Kido on board but it looks like it's not happening yet. It's still one of the most enjoyable mod I've played so here's hoping that it'll work out somehow in the future.

Okay, for this I would require a bit more information, cause this isn't normal... Mellissan was fixed ages ago, as the soldiers in the oasis, and volo was never a problem, neither the barracks...

Either you have a condition that causes breakdown of the dialogue, i.e. is Kido constantly invisible in your case?
Or you have a mod that seems to have incompatibility
Or a faulty installation

That is what I can come up with at the moment, for this a very unique problem, seeing even volo goes bonkers... Could you possible conditions you always have active with Kido? WeiDu log? And swear that you didn't touch the coding or used Shadowkeeper?

Nope. I wouldn't really touch the weidu log since I don't understand any of it :lol: . But I did use shadowkeeper to fix a kindrek bug at spellhold. Could that have an impact on things? Perhaps I did something wrong between removing 4.1 to installing 5.2. Do you think I should perhaps uninstall and reinstall?

Ah, that last thing that is (for 95% sure) it.
If you touch Kindrek (I hope you are aware of cross-mod banter pack which make kido and kindrek talk ;)) nothing should go wrong with Kido.
However, I know I changed Kido to now be available upstairs if you did HD quest for entering the Five Flaggons Inn, so he wouldn't comment on a play the PC didn't see. Now there is a new global set in 5.something versions to make sure he doesn't spawn twice. Now that isn't said as probably had Kido in your party already he gets confused about the globals set. Don't worry next game it will be okay.
If you didn't have Kido in your party, I also heard that for some reason you have to check your override folder of your BG2 installation and look around the K for any Kido stuff (I am already working on better prefix of stuff) and remove them manually... I don't know why, but it was reported a few posts up.
Thus, to be short, re-install if you hadn't had Kido in the party before you upgraded and make sure everything is fresh or it is probably a one time thing because of a mid game upgrade of stuff.

I've got version 5.3 and the same problem ;/

And questions:
Is there possibility to go around this bug? I could use console to telrport my party downstairs, or even straight to astral prison, but isn't it going to crush sth?
Is v6.0 free of this bug?
Is yes, is it waise to reinstall mod? I don't want to start new game...

what mods do you have? I don't remember exactly what I was using, but since I use essentially the same mods every time, I might see something useful.

Of course, you could wait to get help from the guy who made the mod, but where is the fun in that?
If I'd known it was harmless, I would of killed it myself.
