Crash in Temple Ruins

I am posting this here just because I don't know where else to post it. I am patiently waiting for the new BP, however, in the mean time, I have installed TDD-weidu, SOS-weidu, & TS-weidu. I have also installed lots of extras.

Ease of Use
Tactics
Abysmal Store
TZ Shop
Volcano Pack
Ruad
Unfinished business (only what is allowed)
Kelsy
FR-Rov
Ajoc
Brown Dragon

I know that when BP is done I will have to redo this as some will not be compatible, but I thought I was safe until then with these mods.
Unfortunately, every time I try to enter the Temple Ruins, the game crashes to desktop. I had to CLUA myself there as well. The map updated when I went into the rangers house, but the ruins where shaded grey not red so I could not go there without CLUAing. If anyone has any thoughts I would appreciate all help.

Try going back to the city gates and leaving though them. That *should* make the Temple ruins be accessable. There was a bug with the worldmap that has never been fixed caused by one of the big three (I forget which). Hopefully that will help.

They are both just stores with really overpowered stuff, but they are on the mirrors I think.

I will try going through the city gates and see what happens. Thanx.

The TZ shop is also known as "The Magnificent Magic Store" and it can be found here.

Abysmal Store is also known as "The Unusual Oddites Shop" and it can be found at RPG Dungeon.

They are both mods that add in shops. I have all of the above installed, minus TS (my lady does not like Kachiko for some reason, so I went without it). I cannot answer about the ones with optional components; for example I am only using Kurosian and the Ritual from Tactics. Just wanted to add where to find those as well as rule out that they are causing this bug.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately it did not help. Going out through the city gates did make the area accessible, but again as soon as it loaded and showed my party, the game crashed. If anyone else has any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Hmm I am not sure which of those would be causing the problem. On the ones with optional components, which ones are you using?

Honestly MajorTom I forget. I did not add any extra kits, as I knew this would mess up things without using an uninstaller. I also did not add anything with the Valygar romance as I knew this would mess up things. I did'nt add most of the improved battles either. Everything else I pretty much included. If there is any way to check exactly what I added let me know, and I will check if it fixes this problem.

In your BG install folder you should have a notepad labeled weidu. That will have a list of your mods. I am trying to figure out if any of the optional components might have altered the Temple Ruins. I am not an expert on all the components of tatics.

I had a similar problem that was caused by installing CtB twice (when I uninstalled in between the 2 times, the .are file did not get removed) and corrupting either the .are or .wed file. I spent a few hours going through those files. I think what really worked for me (I don't remember since it was like 6 months ago) was going into my save game and editing my characters location so that when I started my BG game they were in a part of the map that didn't have a CTD. I think the CTD is caused by a problem with spawning creatures or there is a messed up container or door (in my game, by installing CtB twice, I messed up the offsets within the files).

Or I just used MoveToArea. I'm not sure. Anyway the problem was caused by something happening at the location where I arrived at by using the worldmap. Hope this helps.

Ok- I've got a little more info, and I hope someone can help me now. When I get to the temple ruins, the werewolf should talk, and then run back to her cave. There was a creature with a blue circle, and I assumed it was the werewolf. When I put my cursor over the person, it said shadow thief. I never saw a shadow thief on this screen before. When I loaded the area in NI, under actors it had these listed:
Arval
Lellyn
rngsha02
rngwlf03
shadel
shadfi01
shadow01
shadow01
shadow01
shadow01
shalt01
uhfem02
uhman01

Some of these, just don't fit with what I'm used to seeing, so hopefully someone will recognize something and let me know what I can do to stop crashing.

If no one has any suggestions, at least the area code to the level below the temple ruins would be helpful so that I can continue.

Merella is UHRANG01.CRE. On AR1400, she should be the only creature fixed on the map, the rest are spawns or scripted onto the map. AR1404 is the area after leaving the Shadow Dragon and start the battle with the Shade Lord.

So it sounds like you have jumped to the wrong map. If your Worldmap was working correctly, you would have gone to AR1400 to start this adventure, exited the Shadow Dragon onto AR1404 (nighttime), killed the Shade Lord, and had the map change to AR1404 (daytime).

Thank you. This was my problem. When I first left Umar, and The Ruins were not available, I CLUA'd myself to AR1404 rather than 1400. When it was suggested that I go out through the city gates, I guess a trigger had been set that the area is now 1404. When I CLUA myself to ar1400 - no crash. Now that I can do the temple ruins, will I need to reset any triggers so that when I go to fight the shade lord (which I assume is ar1404) the game won't crash again, or will everything be okay if i access the area normally after killing the dragon. Thank you again for your help. At least I am now making progress.

If it's AR1404 that causes the problem, it sounds like a return of the old Shade Lord issue---a bug that was squashed ages ago. Perhaps some other mod caused it to resurface? I no longer use Tactics (even the part that went into BP was heavily modified, in some cases for compatability). I don't know what unfinished business does/is doing, i've never used it--so it's hard to speculate on.

It is definately not working. ar1400 had no shadows or shadow wolves. I just walked right across the screen meeting nothing. When I went down the steps, everything was normal. When I killed the dragon and went to the shade lord, CTD again. Is there anyway that I can skip this and just change globals so that when I get back to Umar it will look like I finished this? Or when I go down to fight the shade lord can I just CTRL-Y to make this section work?

Okay - I tried loading the screen again so that I could try CTRL-Y'ing everyone, and now the screen won't even show up before crashing. So if anyone knows what globals I can set so the mayor in Umar thinks I have done everything, I would greatly appreciate it. I could try messing around with the globals myself (and have already a little), but I am afraid of doing more harm than good.

Not sure which globals get updated but I suspect that clearing out AR1404 caused AR1400 to not produce any shadows. When looking at that script the other day for you I do remember that AR1400's script checks to see if the shade lord is already dead.

Speaking of such, did you already fight the shade lord? If so, you may have all the globals set that you need to tell the mayor the area is cleared.
