I asked the same question at another forum and they said that he only has the first tier of force powers not advanced ones. (And my experience confirms that)
It is funny that having an entire fleet at his command he couldn't afford any equipment. His lightsaber is not upgraded, is it?

No really it's because a player might battle him at lv20 or lv30 for that matter. It is to ensure the player is always left with a challenge...problem is that with higher levels come more powers which doesnt 100% align up with the foes
PS: What Kotor 2 tool are you using? im still stuck with a semi-working version of KSE (Kotor Savegame Editor) slightly 'reworked' so it can read Kotor 2 savegames (Just barely o.O)...it works perfect when you need to change alignment or NPC names though
PPS: Well the most 'storylike' reason for his saber not to have any upgrades could be that he has learned the ancient sith fighting styles like the dead sith lord on Korriban is it? used. As far as they know alot of the sith back then favored standard blades over sabers but honestly im not sure...never bothered reading much background material on the SW universe

I was waiting for a major challange here (I absolutely HATE easy games, especially when it comes to boss-level opponents), and instead he went down in 3 Master Flurries.
Also, at least the game should disable the other party members somehow to turn this battle into a duel.. but no.
And if it is kept as it is, he should really make up for his name, and have at least 600-700 HPs, with considerably more powerful Force powers at his disposal (and he should actually USE them too ).
Ehh, I'm merely upset a little.

Nihilus never had too many connections with Korriban - he died at Malachor V (as a Jedi serving Revan), and reborned thanks to the Dark Side energies around the half-dead planet. He learned at the Trayus Academy. If he'd possess the same training as those "old" Sith Lords, he'd chop an entire party of 25th level characters to pieces.the most 'storylike' reason for his saber not to have any upgrades could be that he has learned the ancient sith fighting styles like the dead sith lord on Korriban is it? used. Yet one thing I don't really understand is why he cannot drain the PC or the other party members - in addition, he seems to suffer greatly from the attempt! Any idea why that is?

The feeling I got was that he survived by draining the force from other force users. Now you confront him with a party with Visas, who he's linked to in some way and presumably can't drain, Manderous who isn't a force user, and you. You as the exile also gain power by draining force users, so when he tries to take power from you it's like trying to drain water into a hole from a deeper hole. Instead, you probably gain some power, and he's weakened. That was my explanation for why he couldn't drain you - and also for why he was not as formidable as expected - he'd weakened himself before you fought.
Back from the brink.
Like RPGs? Like Star Wars? Think combining the two would be fun? Read Darths and Droids, and discover the line "Jar Jar, you're a genius".
These, in the day when heaven was falling,
The hour when earth's foundations fled,
Followed their mercenary calling
And took their wages and are dead.

Still, there is one additional problem here: Kreia said that he cannot control/direct his power completely - it works like normal hunger, and as such, it cannot be directed against a single target. Instead he drains every living thing around him all the time, slowly turning his servants into zombies.
The fact that he tries to "drain you" seems to be quite controversial following this logic.

In the beginning he drained people to increase his power now he no longer has a choice: He has to keep killing people or his thirst of energy will drive him mad.
When he cannot find anything he could conciously drain (like a planet full of force sensitives) his hunger starts getting out of control , slowly draining everyone near him.

The hardest fight for me in the entire game was probably the part where you take control of Atton and have to fight them two twilek bounty hunters on Nar Shadda.
The rest of the game was a breeze. If they bring out another KOTOR, i hope it is much more challenging.

i so totaly agree, them twileks with Atton actually made me think!lolEvery time i play the game, when i get to Darth Nihilus it is always a dissapointment. For a person who is the main figure on the front cover of the game and has the coolest looking cloaks and mask in the game, he is really a bit pants.

The sad thing is that this battle can completely cheated by running behind a desk in a corner - if you do that fast, they just won't follow you and stand there doing nothing while you shoot them to death. The hardest fight for me in the entire game was probably the part where you take control of Atton and have to fight them two twilek bounty hunters on Nar Shadda.
It definitely kills the fun from this encounter, so I don't advise it to anyone who prefers real challanges.
Anyway, back to topic.

I kicked his a** toWhat you think of the "cry baby" Darth Nihilous? oh man, before the game was released a have nightmares just lookin to that mask, but when the time comes, i kicked his a** SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO easily, that this time, the second time i am playing the game, i will remove the other party members for a more chalenging oponent...
What do you think? Nihilous is or is not a wasted great evil potential????

And KOTOR 2 had way too much wasted plot potential for me to complain about the difficulty.

Ah, there's life on these parts of the forums! Yep, the game came out too unfinished, it's a shame really. The plot potential was enormous, but dropped to the "normal" star wars game level, which is to say, that it wasn't too good.It did bother me that he didn't even have death field, and some parts of the game would of been more fun with more difficult battles, but I play RPGs for the plot.
