I know it's possible (IWGII). But can it be done with just a few select models. For example the shadow thieves/bodhi/umber hulks... They'd have to overwrite other models already in IWDII wouldn't they?
Anyway, If it can be done... could anyone tell me how?

You would have to manually import them, most likely by extracting and editing every animation and then replacing the entries in the 2da.
I did some work on IWGII myself, and failed due to lack of resources, internal conflicts and inexplicable problems. Not to go off on a tangent, but did you ever look into the bug on teleporting out of Charnames dreams? Always bothered me, that one.

You can use free slots in IWD 2, which are not used in game:
0x7F00 Troll_bg2_MTRO
0x7F09 Sahuagin_bg2_MSAH
0x7F23 Sahuagin_greater_bg2_MSAT
0x7F27 Drow_bg2_MDRO
0x7F29 Drow Female_MFDR
0x7F32 Slayer_MSLY
0x7F38 Wizard_Eye_MMEY
All you have to do is rename the animations you want to import. There are also free slots for animations from IWD 1, that are useable like Sahuagins, Animated Plates, Barbarians, Marilith etc. Check Animate.IDS for clues. The relevant names of animations you will find in Animate.SRC, but not every animation called there can be used (from BG2 just those I listed above). When animation is specific, like Melissan you must rearrange them to proper format.
