Hi,
Does anyone know why my Icewind Dale lacks any sort of battle/combat music, when a fight starts?

I've read on several forums that there is supposed to be battle music (just like in Baldur's Gate/2) when you fight, but I have not heard a single battle tune, and I've killed hordes of goblins already.

I also haven't heard any music in dungeons (the ones in the prologue)-.-, but I just entered chapter 1, so who knows...

Does anyone know why the battle music isn't working?

The music files are there...they play fine with Nearinfinity....

Oh, and I have the exact same problem on a much older computer that's running Windows 98se, so it's not a computer problem. Doesn't matter if any mods, or if HOW or TOTL is installed or not.

No problems at all in BG1 or BG2 music, (besides having to edit a few MUS files, to fix bugs/typos that stopped some of the songs from looping)

Has anyone who's played IWD had this problem and found any sort of fix? Is there any battle music in IWD? If so, -when- does it play?

I've posted this on another forum also. Hopefully someone will know what's going on .... :(

Have you checked that the music isn't turned off/down in the GamePlay settings?

I found the problem.
Apparently, 98% of the area files DO NOT even have a battle music event associated with them!

Looking in nearinfinity, there is a "battle music event" value of -1, in almost all areas. Only in 5 areas are there any music events-.-

With a little trial and error (made harder by the fact that the SAVE will save the area data previously visited, into the save game, instead of reading from the area (as well as the NPC CRE) files again), I am now manually putting in battle music for each area. Valid music events are 37-40, 43 and 44 (there are 6 battle tunes).
So I have to edit each .are file :( since I dont know what each are file is for.

(some are obviously the interiors of tiny houses).
The few files that have music already, will be left alone.

In BG and BG2, almost every area (outside of tiny empty houses and rooms and taverns) have a battle music event

Time for a Weidu patch, anyone? :)

Iono, I like the enviromental sound. In BGII I had to turn music off just because the battle song grew so irritating. Problem with that is, the music is used to tie an emotion to an event. So when you enter a new area, or have a boss fight. The music isn't playing and you lose the effect. But when it's a "gee, more goblins to splat" situation, the music is wasted. It ends up playing so often it gets repetative.

So, save music for the boss fights... I think
Metanoia, a Greek word meaning a change of mind. A radical revision and transformation of our whole mental process. That change of mind is something whereby God takes center place in our consciousness, in our awareness, and in our minds.

Metanoia means a new mind. About what? About who we are. If tonight youre hearing with your heart, its time for metanoia. Its time for a new mind about yourself and about life.

Metanoia is the idea of the need for conversion. And this is then recognizing that we dont know, truthfully dont know, God and truthfully dont feel ourselves as God intends us to.
