Hello everyone,

i was wondering if anyone knows of any modding tools so i can extract and edit the skins on various robes and such?
I was browsing the web yesterday only to find modding resources that actually work with kotor 2 extremely well hidden.. as in, i couldn't find any at all.

I have tried the KISS application but it doesn't work for me, despite i already have .NET 1.1 installed, i get some weird application error and nothing shows up in the browse window.
If it's possible, i would also really appreciate a detailed description on how to extract the robe etc textures and how to put them back into the game.

Cheers all!

"Darth Sebastian" - love the name. Simply love it. :P ;) :D

Oh, and I should also tell any curious readers that we're not the same person. ;)

About KISS, I recommend that you read the tutorial. It's not a program you click on, you need to write a script, etc, etc. There's plenty of explanations in the tutorial, and you can also feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

About modding, I haven't looked into it yet, but it seems to be using the same structure as the first KotOR-game did. I'm pretty certain it's the same engine, so modding KotOR2 shouldn't be much different from modding KotOR1, I hope.

And about editing posts; please do register. :)

[EDIT] Removed some of the smileys - it looked... weird.

Ok so i couldn't get the lucas forums to load for some reason, but i managed to extract a robe texture using Fred Tetra's kotor tool thingy machine.
What i don't quite understand is how i am supposed to import the texture back into the game again.

I read some guy's mod description and that said "create an 'override' folder in the kotor folder and place the .tga textures there". Well i tried that but it didn't work with my test subject. :glare:
Would anyone have any idea on how to do this?

*edit* Never mind, apparently there were 2 exactly alike textures, (same bit/res/size) and of course i used the wrong one, lol. That's my lot in life.

Well, i can get new skins into the game but for some reason the new mask skin appears with no prblem on all chars that wears it (PC of course) while the robe only appears on the female PC characters.
Doesn't make any sense to me unless they have made separate skins for male and female robe textures, though that seems unlikely to me both in logic and since i can't find any more duplicates than that first robe i spoke of. I can only find one single version of the high res 'Dark Jedi Robe'.
Took me quite a while to find it as well.. lol.

Are there any charts anywhere that explains the file name structure so one doesn't have to scan trhough the thousends of files everytime? :) That would help alot.

Btw, can anyone get lucas forums to load? I dont know if it's my current web browser that stalls it, coz i a can't get it to load.. grrr.

I decided to follow up on that fmelae/male texture path and discovered that they have indeed made separate skins for female and male PC character. (though the textures are identical they have been given different names)

For an example:

Female Dark Jedi Robe: PFBI06.tpc
Male Dark Jedi Robe: PMBI06.tpc

I guess that's been cleared up then :P

I would however, like to know more about how to edit models, i mean i know how to model but i'm very uncertain of how i would be able to add stuff to a model regarding animations and such. I know with old Half-Life the animation sequences were compiled into the actual .mdl file but htat doesn't seem to be the case with kotor/kotor2.
I've been scanning the web for some tuts but it's really hard to find anything as most sites seems to have been taken down or something and LucasForums won't load for me..aaargh.
