I'm looking to find just enough info to put together a reasonable NPC mod for BG1-BG2. The character is a Bard with ties to the Harper organization in Athkatla, at least, possibly beyond. Also known for ability as a stage actor\performer. A good searchable database would be wonderful. Access to actual source materials would be nectar.

"What rough beast, Its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born."

and may your feet always find the correct path.

There is actualy very little in the way of offical information concerning the harpers in Athkatla. They apparently don't have a large stake there.
There is a bit of detail in the "Code of the Harpers".

The Harpers are actually pretty unwelcome in Amn and I believe similarly in Tethyr. The Code of the Harpers manual will give you enough info to build your own group and integrate it if you so desire so that it still fits both the canon info and BGII.
Check on ebay or Amazon for that one.

The Harpers were very unwelcome in pre-civil war Tethyr, but with the new monarchy's close ties with Waterdeep that situation has changed very much for the better.
I wouldn't say the Harpers are particularly unwelcome in Amn - the typical citizen probably doesn't care one way or other about them. However, there are several groups in the region who may come into conflict with the Harpers:
The Shadow Thieves: their extreme hatred of the Lords of Waterdeep may extend to the Harpers to some extent. However, since the Harpers rarely seem to get involved with the affairs of thieves' guilds (they seem to prefer evil merchants), conflict would be pretty rair.
The Knights of the Shield: a group of mostly neutral & evil nobels and merchants operating mainly in Amn and Tethyr, their goals and methods are similar in many aspects to the Iron Throne. In fact, in BG1 you come across representatives of the two in a meeting to discuss a possible alliance.
The Twisted Rune: I'm not sure if the Harpers as a whole even know of this group's existence (since very few non-undead beings do), but I suspect Khelben and Elminster at least know something of their activities. Should they ever meet, Harpers and Rune agents would doubtleslly come into conflict, though the Rune agents probably wouldn't even know they were Rune agents .
The Council of Six: the rulers of Amn are not officially enemies of the Harpers, but the various shady activites they and their agents get up to (all but one of the current Council are evil) may cause the two groups to unwittingly clash.

I thought two of the council were not evil, the head of the cowled wizards (LN) and a priest of Leira (CN). I don't know their names sorry
