I'm in Lyrar's kepp, standing at the top of some tower in his personal quarters and i've beaten about ten bales of shi*te out of him and he's still at "Nearly dead" status
I've done this twice now, with all my guys hitting him for about twenty minutes doing about 2000 points of damage and he won't die!!!!
any ideas?

Get him close to death, and a power word, kill will finish him off.

I don't know what he's taking but I'd like some for my party!

Power Word: Kill did the trick for me as well, although the cutscene (which I suppose has to follow directly on his death) doesn't start, thusly impeding me (and the storyline) to continue...
Any thoughts? BP s_and_h_v6 fix installed.
On a side note: don't know if this is intentional, but Sureblade's fortress seems to be located in the Temple District ( ).Oh, and the last invasion of Soubar (the one where the sarge notifies you when leaving the barracks) loops if you speak again to him, as his dialogue seems to trigger the event. Though I don't suppose there'll be any fixes anytime soon for this near-extinct mod

At the bottom of the stairs in the main part of Lyrar's Hold, there is a barrel with Silverblade and A.N.O Sword (something else ridiculously powerful). I took these two swords, fought up to two floors from the top and stopped. I then buffed up my defences - including Haste - and ran up the last two floors. I made sure all of the party were using melee weapons and got stuck in - he went down very rapidly - but it took a long time to devise that tactic.
I think the trick is to crowd him so he can't recover and hit him fast and hard with very powerful melee weapons, so that his script is permanently interrupted and so cannot get to the bit that keeps healing him. Speed seems to be the factor here.
How very odd. I do know there is a problem with the Chionthar River area if it does not appear on your worldmap; you cannot get there on foot and if you have elected to travel there by coach, your worldmap position is the Umar Hills.Sureblade's fortress seems to be located in the Temple District
Mmm. Must look into that but no promises. There's another dialogue problem with the sergeant, where you are training the prisoners, but that seems to be a variable increment problem and I never did track it down fully. It just throws a 'no dialogue' string onto the screen and continues without fuss.last invasion of Soubar (the one where the sarge notifies you when leaving the barracks) loops if you speak again to him, as his dialogue seems to trigger the event
