Meanwhile I updated this thingie. Sprayed a bug, and added the neccessary .2da files to the package, so ppl don't have to export them manually. If something is wrong with it, e-mail me (lacos@hungary.org).

Btw, SirBillyBob, did you check it out? Any comment on it?

PS: I won't be available until next weekend, have fun meanwhile.

And keep up good work Horred ;)!

For some reason, zip files are corrupt when I download them. I have WinRAR 3.30, do I need to upgrade again?

Interesting. I have exactly the same WinRAR 3.30 as you SirBillyBob and I had no problems with the archive.

Sigh. Well I just tried to download KD's fix for the Durlag area and I keep getting a 0K file. I have to catch a flight in the next few hours so I guess when I come home next week I will have to put everything on hold until I completely rebuild this damn computer. 4 years of data and XP patches. Some how something has totally crapped out on this machine. :( I knew there was a problem when the water overlays started going bad. Oh well, at least I have my company's laptop to check the forums. :)

Not currently, but something is in the works to convert this to the .TRA system. A loyal fan has been working on a French version of BP for months now; we may convert this over. As far as German goes--you'll have to make your own, I don't Spreche de Deusche very well, despite my German ancestory (I'm sure you can see that, with my spelling). :P

You're forgiven ;)
Guess i've to buy myself a nice english collectors set :)

Maybe i should try out first if it is compatible. Because the old BP did work out fine for me. If someone can live the language mixture in some dialogues.

I think there's a misunderstanding here. I don't see any reason why you couldn't install a mod on your german version. After all, mods work fine with a French version, which, as far as I know, share the same exe file.
I assume Horred was talking about the mod itself not being in german.

As for the French translation, Horred, considering your current speed on the new BP and our speed on the translation, we'll have to switch to TRA format much before the end of the translation work. For TRA conversion, I submitted a sample BAT file some time ago in the translation forum (based on what I did for Epic Endeavours) if you're looking for a partially automated conversion.

While they aren't yet implemented, I have made .TRA files for TDD and SoS. I suppose they are interchangeable with my current --text D files. Note that I have no experience in working with TRA's (just learned how to make them). I couldn't get the APPEND-ing D files to make .TRA's either.

I'll be releasing the first versions of these two in a couple days; I suppose the .TRA version can be added at a later date then (i.e., when the translation is done). As I've previously stated; new versions will be much easier to implement in this format, than the old-fashioned "master tlk file".

No, there is no misunderstanding. I know that it works with my german version. I played the whole game with the OLD BP on top of my german installation. I was just wondering wether there are problems regarding the new weidu version.
Let's put it this way, i believe for the sake of stability and compability a us-version would definitly be a wise solution. ^_^
And i get a chance to listen to some (hopefully) sexy voices of my favourite female npc

Adapting Epic Endeavours to TRA usage brought me some experience in that field. I think it's much easier than making a complete WeiDU conversion.
The --traify option is handy when you have the mod in D of BAF files. It may not be worth trying to create the TRA files when extracting DLG into D files.

As you say, TRA version can be made later on, when the need arise. Considering all what you're already doing, you can leave translation work (and TRA conversion) to people interested in it, namely us translators.

Just... wow. I'm curious to how much smaller the download files will be compared to the original TDD, SOS, TS and so forth. Seems to be quite a bit less. :o

You're welcome.
I'll have a look at the job when I download the brand new WeiDU version.

I'm afraid the most difficult part will now be to copy/paste all strings from the translated dialog.tlk file into the tra files, not extracting the texts into tra files itself. :(

Horred,

Any news? I've downloaded the WEIDU versions of SOS and TDD and was curious to hear of what was planned for next. I'm guessing a WEIDU of BGT, but at this point I'd settle for a beta of BP 170. Nevermind, you told a previous poster that it'd be about a month. Hanging in there and waiting as patiently as I can.

On another front, what resources would I have to gather together to create an NPC mod. I'd like to have Keira Silverstrings available in BG2. I can't work with graphics, but I think I can handle much of the rest. Well maybe, it's worth a try, anyway.

Mark,

All you need are some dialogs and the CRE files. Are you planning to have her transition over or will she leave before then and show up somewhere in Amn?

Do you want to require the install of DSotSC? It wouldn't be necessary but might make her storyline easier to understand depending on what you are planning to do.

There are several good topics over on the tutorial forum about making an NPC.

Dialogs and the CRE files . . . OK. My first though had been to have her show up somewhere in Athkatla. The next thing I need to do is to really go over her storyline, before I start trying to piece together dialog. I'd also like to work on some interactions with other characters, to "flesh her out" a bit.
