But as we've spoken about before, we are in dire need of a good singleplayer RPG campaign set in D&D or a similar setting, since we've not had that since BG.

I know a lot of people have... *ahem* "issues" with Oblivion, but what's wrong with Morrowind?

This one is a topic I hesistate to discuss again...

*ahem*

Morrorwind had no dialogue. You had no way to express yourself and your characters feelings or interact with the world around you other than physically, unless in contrained fashions. Elder Scrolls is more like a first-person shooter with roleplaying elements for me than anything else. Refer to the "redemption-threat" that Feanor started for argumentation, so we don't crowd this topic ;)

Or did you mean third person, party-based singleplayer RPGs?

Nope. Loved VtM - Bloodlines to death.

This is what my limited edition is supposed to come with:

A NWN 2 figurine
A bonus cd with game art and soundtrack
A customized game case (Doh...)
A customized start-up screen
A map (Doesn't say if it's cloth)
An artbook of the game characters
Neverwinter Nights + both expansions (DOH!)
A pewter ring
A free seven day trial to Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach (DOH x2!!)
A freezingly cool drinking bottle (And that's direct translation for you...)

A NWN 2 figurine

Same in UK. Pre-order boxes were up in Game on Saturday, and it looks like the CE edition has something fairly large that I suspect is a troll in it. Since I play a fair bit of PnP, I might even be able to use it.

A bonus cd with game art and soundtrack

Listed in the UK as a DVD?

A customized game case (Doh...)
A customized start-up screen

I want go-faster stripes on mine. :D

A map (Doesn't say if it's cloth)

A3 Clothe Map. (yes, that's exactly what it says.)

An artbook of the game characters

We get one of those too, apparently 40 pages long.

Neverwinter Nights + both expansions (DOH!)

Presumably they want to remind people how good the original campaign was. <_< Though backups for my original game discs would be useful.

A pewter ring

And people say Atari are cheap.

A free seven day trial to Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach (DOH x2!!)

If it's on a separate disk, I'll drill a hole and hang it up to scare birds in my back garden.

A freezingly cool drinking bottle (And that's direct translation for you...)

Does that mean some sort of flask? It's not listed for the UK LE.

The UK LE also lists an in-game item "Blessed of Waukeen" and 10 pregenerated (your alignment) characters.

The soundtrack/art CD/DVD sounds vaguely desirable, and I suppose people who don't have the original and haven't bought any of the recent collectors editions of NWN1 might find the original game interesting (but surely anyone likely to buy NWN2 LE will already have it). And then there's the solution to the starling problem

I'd be a lot happier if pre-ordering got me a look at the toolset when it's released at the end of this month, which appears to be an option if you order within the USA. But I don't think it's available that way in England.

Back from the brink.

Like RPGs? Like Star Wars? Think combining the two would be fun? Read Darths and Droids, and discover the line "Jar Jar, you're a genius".

The hour when earth's foundations fled,
Followed their mercenary calling
And took their wages and are dead.

I guess it's going to be a cloth map then (which is good), my store just doesn't list everything.

You're probably right about the DVD too, I don't think they'd use a cd anymore.

These will probably also be in every LE: 10 Pre-Generated good/evil characters, In Game Item - The Blessed of Waukeen.

Yeah, it's supposed to be a flask of sorts, don't know the specifics.

I think it's a mountain troll figure for the Chaotic Evil edition and an Aspects of Bahamut dragon figure for the Lawful Good edition.

Speaking of what's in it and what isn't and what's for where, does anyone know if Canada is "implied" within the "US" designation?
"I set on this journey trying to understand why has metal been stereotyped, dismissed, and condemned. My answer is this: if, listening to that music, you don't get that overwhelming rush of power that makes the hair stand at the back of your neck, you may never will. But you know what, it doesn't really matter. Because, judging from the 40 000 people around me, we're doing just fine without ya." :) Cheers! And two horns up for metalheads all around the world!

Iirc, originally it was designated as "North America," but that may have changed.

It's only US now. I don't know which English version Canada gets, and if there's a French version coming (Haven't seen any news about it).

It seems as though in the UK, you can only get the LG collectors edition if you order the game from play.com. And if you haven't ordered it already, you're too late - they've sold out.

Yeah, it seems like people are really buying. We've run out of stock here too, neither of the limited editions is available anymore. And the game doesn't even have a 100% certain release date...

In a way it's good news that there are already so many orders., as it suggests that NWN2 will be a success. And if there's enough demand it's possible that more Limited Edition sets will be made available, though I'd be really annoyed if they suddenly discovered there was a demand for LE/CG versions and brought one out, because I really don't like either CE or LG as alignments.

As for 100% certain release dates, I've seen games slip as late as two days before they were supposed to be released, when stock had actually been distributed. I'm hoping that this will actually be THE DAY as it comes from an official Atari press release, but it still could slip (no, don't say that  - quick everybody, think positive thoughts :D).

I'm thiking positve...

If it comes later it means they've squashed more bugs, fixed more oddities, implemented more features, and I've more time to prepare money for a computer.

IF it comes sooner the majorty of people will be happy until they fnd bugs, I'll have to wait a little longer after getting the game to play it.

If the LE is preordered do you get the preorder bonuses?

As I understand it if you pre-order you get the game when it comes out, plus early access to the the toolset and some of the other perks regardless of which version you buy. But I think you have to use one of a small number of retailers for this, and I'm fairly sure that I won't be getting anything with my preorder in the UK.

It's kinda funny actually, that Black Isle used to be Canadian but now I couldn't even find specific info on Canada's release dates, only "US". OK, granted that maybe my search wasn't really efficient, but still?

I think you're getting Black Isle confused with Bioware (whose HQ is in Edmonton, Alberta); BI were based in Orange County, California :).
