All in all let KD finish his work. I need about ten areas from BP-BGT to re-use in NeJ3, so I'll probably wait a bit for this project being finished.
All that I want to say: if u want to use already existing .tis (just a graphics - with whatever animations such fireplaces etc. - that already stored in it) - use it!
Design your own area in any way u want modifying actors, ambients etc. and in the very end just put the WED's reference to ALREADY EXISTING .tis. That's all. But don't touch the graphics - don't rebuild tis, don't modify overlays 'coz it will restructure .wed an it couldn't be used with original .tis anymore (I'm not sure if DLTCEP restructures WED as well every time it says that "area will be reordered to the official standard" so use it with caution).
And everything will be Ok.
So u have to have for destribution every area-related file (.mos, .wed, 3 bmps) except .tis that is a goal....
And it absolutely doesn't matter where exactly that tis-in-use located - bif or override.
I tried even skip a WED using original one as well (modifying .are reference) but it didn't work sometimes for some unknown reasons so I think it's not so high price to have a WED for every new area.
P.S. I use Open File NI option to modify .wed's tis reference.
And I have every duplicated DSotSC and NTotSC perfectly working with BGT TIS's rignt now that reduces an installation size on up to 300MB with these 2 mods...
