I've seen various mods bringing various aspects of the game closer to the way things work in PnP AD&D (mechanics wise), but has anyone tried to do it for the whole game? Is it possible?
Things like:
Multiple rolling methods for stat generation.
Random HP for monsters.
Negative hit-points before death (long term incapacitation at zero)
Anyone being able to use any weapon (barring alignment restrictions) but with applicable non proficency penalties.
More correct implementation of monster stats/abilities (some of this has already been done I know.
A worthwhile teleport/dimension door spell.
ect
Pen and Paper conversion...

multiple rolling methods: impossible due to engine limitations, possible with GemRB
Random HP: well, this is possible, in DLTC we use random color for birds, cow Random HP is similar.
Negative HP: hmm, could be faked for npcs, but as a player you will never see that you have negative HP. At best, your HP won't go below a certain point. Unless you get beaten more. (Same trick as trolls are being treated).
Anyone using any weapon: this is done in DLTC
Correct stats: i think they are more or less ok, there could be balancing reasons why they don't follow adnd rules.
Correct abilities: some abilities are impossible to implement (correctly). But there have been efforts towards elven charm/sleep resistency. Or in DLTC infravision has a new meaning.
teleport: hmm, this should be done
dimension door: this is done, by many people. Don't forget, dimension door works only up to your sight range as per adnd.

Lost Crossroads is supposed to be doing this. You'll have to read more into it, but I know that that is what it's supposed to be doing.

And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted - nevermore!
Like dealing with terrorists by giving them explosives. -NotMrT

The Fields of the Dead is also doing this.
But then for Baldur's Gate I. It will also add the fields of the death (don't know them myself, but they should be around Baldur's Gate or something) to the game in addition. I myself are really looking forward to this mod.

You can never name any better game for me than Baldur's Gate!

You know, many of the Fields of the Dead files should be easily transferrable to BG2...

Ghreyfain's Ashes of Embers mod is another way to open up weapon usage. Look at http://www.pocketplane.net - there are components for it for SoA, ToB and Tutu.

A P&P rule conversion made for BG2 would be a lot bigger.
