One thing i never liked about the origional Valen mod was that I had to kill the vampire hunters. I usually play a true neutral and it bothers that i must slay paladins (also i'm a huge buffy fan :^^: ). Could there be an option to convince them that Valen is under your control and redeeming herself by helping you on a quest for good, even assisting in the destruction of the far more evil Bodhi? Perhaps they could cast detect evil on you and, if you are not evil, let you get by. I allways needed to do something like blind and stun them then run away to avoid harming the characters i grew up with.

Actually, this is a vary bad idea IMO - come on, Undead Hunters are Undead Hunters. They are sworn to free the world from the undead plague, and no, Vampires cannot be redeemed. <_<

I agree, Undead Hunters are mindless idiots who only care about whacking dead things that still happen to be moving. Why should Valen be any different? It's just an easter egg that they are named Van Helsing, Buffy, Faith and Kendra :D Why not throw in another random NPC interjection with characters named Angel, Spike, or Druscilla? :P

Whether or not vampires can be redeemed is a topic of contention, but to persue more accurate roleplaying, i think it is necessary to have more options than turning valen over or killing the paladins. There are numerous ways in which they could be dissuaded. For instance, if you have a heroic reputation, they might trust that you would never harbor a vampire who was a threat. And also, if you try your hardest to convince them through dialouge and they attack anyway, i don't think this qualifies for a reputation reduction. You were attacked by zealots, much like those trying to burn Viconia, after doing nothing to provoke them. This is self defense as much as any other kill in the game, more so than some kills such as Firkraag which you sought out and could have avoided.
If you show the undead hunters that they will be doing evil by stopping a being who is fighting for good and they attack anyway, it seems more like they are the ones who deserve a reputation reduction.

Here's my take on the vampire hunters:

I think the possibility of talking your way out of a fight with the hunters is rather unlikely.

Also, I believe they would have a hard time trusting the PC if they say the vampire traveling with them is not a threat to inocent lives (simply by nature of its very existance).

However, paladins do have a duty to use reason and ettiquette, in any situation. So I don't see them just blasting into battle like a bunch of rabid gnolls if the party makes a genuine attempt at a non-violent solution.

I'll have to think upon this further- clearly it is a complex situation for everyone involved.

Maybe a similar outcome as the Jahiera/Reviane encounter depending on your rep you can avoid the fight or maybe the Paladins could offer a quest to prove that she is under the PC's direction.

Can't wait till your done Thorium :w00t:

Not a bad idea, I've come up with a few possible scenarios that could tie into some other quests.

I can't help but think that unrestrained beligerance is not really a paladin group's style- if they intend to remain paladins for very long.

I played vampire party (my main character was a vampire, plus I had Miriam Del Sol, Hexxat, Valen and two more vampiresses from Vampire Tales (taken by console :-)

So when I met Undead hunters, no one could make anything to them. I tried summoning creatures, but they were so strong. After they killed Valen, they are gone, simply ignoring the fact that all other members were also vampires. So I went and resurrected Valen, her pain ended than:-)
