Would a weidu version be possible? It might make the installation much easier, and I'd love to have to option to choose certain components to install. There are several parts of BP that I'd like to install, but since they come bundled with so much I don't want I'll never be able to use them. It just isn't worth it. Actually, what would be even better from my perspective is to have certain portions of the mod broken into smaller download packs, much like how the Cleric Remix and the Song and Silence kit packs are broken out of the LoI mod and offered separately.

my VooDoo Master tells me NO! You must learn how to roll the bones!!!! Chants the Chants! Cast the spells! and if the gods are kind then you will have a good install!

for a real answer, BP was made by 1 person (horred) so he could play all three Mods at the same time, then he let others play it. BGT was also made by 1 person (Bardez) and Horred made it work with his BP. Also the mod makers have a healthly ego and don't want their mod to disappear into another bigger mod. Hlid, seanas, and SirBillyBob have been keeping it alive and growing. If someone wonce to contact all the mode makers and ask them if it would be alright to put their stuff into a new uber mod with optional componates, then do so and convert it into a WeiDu mod. I would love it and play it!

It is something to put on the wish list with world peace but it also isn't going to happen. Personally, I was surprised Horred was even allowed to create the autoinstaller. I would like to see some of the repeated items removed (how many sets of plate armor does the game need?). Three tilesets of Beregost? There are lots of ways to shrink this monster down but not without pissing off some of the creators.

It has always been a problem and probably always will be unless everyone is willing to let their projects grow and leave the nest. I am not totally sure I understand the logic. CBisson and Vlad don't support the BP version of their mods anyway. TeamBG isn't around to support TDD. So why can't a repackaged BP be done? Simple, the creators loose the last link to a mod they made and they don't want someone else changing it.

Me? I release what I make and if you have better dialogs, graphics, translations, or want to merge the mod into something else, go for it. I can't support someone else's work since I don't know what was changed(same reason as CB and Vlad) but I have no problems with evolution.

A quick look on this thread seems there's 3 wishes:
1; Easier installation.
2; Custom installation.
3; Removing doublets/triplets/n-touplets making smaller install-size.

#2 is already to a small extent possible, since you can choose to not install BGT & NeJ, but atleast personally the most important is to make #1 easier.

#1, the auto-installer, can be made more "intelligent", so it's less chance to make an error leading to unusable install. This can be accomplished by:
a; Letting the auto-installer verify you have all neccessary files before allowing the installation. Since both TDD & SoS uses an older version of the same installer and atleast TDD verifies if SoA or ToB, this should be easily fixed.
b; Make sure all weidu-setup-files is upgraded to the same version, so none fails installation later on. Atleast in latest version this is done by weidu.exe --update-all
c; Installation of TDD + patch & SoS + patch can't be easily changed, but should preferably verify these are installed correctly.
d; Installer should go directly to extracting the bg1-video now, since you must supply a path to bg1, and there isn't really a problem to split bgt3.bat in 2 and run the 1st part now.
e; Use unrar x -y tsv50.exe ts-install
and similar for the other archieves you needs to extract as part of installation. Using unrar directly makes sure the files is placed in the correct folder, and you actually doesn't need to baby-sit the install-process.
f; For weidu, use setup-something.exe --yes
If this means multiple languages is installed, supply a custom *.tp2-file with only one language. By using this method there isn't any problem with user-errors missing some of the components any longer, and doesn't need to baby-sit the install-process.
g; Let the installer remove weidu.log and other unneccessary files.

Also, do some small changes to the accompanying *.bat-files, example remove the "sleep 1000" and don't tisunpack files and later re-tis them to remove the header...

The actual time to run the installation-process will be roughly the same, but you'll remove all user-errors from extracting TS & BP to wrong directory, and missing some/all weidu-components. An added bonus is you don't need to baby-sit the installation-process, so after typing in the bg1-directory in d you can let the computer work for 1 hour or something without needing any more user-input. B)

#3, removing all doublets and more on the other hand is much more difficult, but a starting-point is to not bif the bg3-files that is later changed by some of the other components. ;)

BTW, since TDD & SoS already is biffed, there's little point to remove anything from these if you can't delete the whole bif-file. But for the rest, if you can remove some of the extra *.tis-files and instead point to TDD or SoS, no problem.
