Hello everyone. Long time lurker, never posted before, but I so LOVE the idea of this MOD that I had to check in and ask: OK... Update pweese? I know the tentative release was this fall, and I can only guess at the kind of work that goes into making a high quality MOD (I once tried to suss out the workings of MOD-making... It made my brain go "ow"), so I'm by no means trying to be pushy... just eager
In other news, I offer my deepest thanks to all the Forgotten Wars team, and Infinity MODers everywhere. The
BG series are simply the greatest RPG video games ever released. I have been waiting with hope in my heart for something that even REMOTELY compares and been unutterably, heartbrokenly disappointed by Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights, and most recently, the tragically lackluster Lionheart. Looking forward at previews and rumours of games in development, it seems that all the professional sutdios have turned to the sterile, base "make-a-buck" mentality of shooters and dungeon crawls. Even those that attempt to involve well-written dialogue and fascinating plots/concepts (I still sigh with regret over the potential that was Lionheart's story/concept) somehow miss or ignore the character development for NPCs, the personal growth for the PC that comes from those interactions... the EMOTIONAL and cerebral aspect of the "epic".
THIS is what makes great fiction. This is what keeps characters living in your heart long after the credits have rolled, and gives you goosebumps whenever you hear the
BG overture on the start-up screen... This is why no self-resepcting gamer geek doesn't know who Boo is, and why with all the other games that have come out in the interim, with their swanky engines and graphics and bullshit bells and whistles, can't manage to hold my attention, much less touch my heart.
Where was I going with this? Oh, yeah. Thank you, MODers, for keeping the flame burning, for giving me reasons to return to Faerun over and again, for making me laugh and get teary-eyed and generally making me REALLY happy *laugh* I know how much time it must take, and that you all aren't getting paid and that this is a sometimes thankless labour of love. You guys are the schiznit. <----(that's a good thing)
*delicately steps down off her soapbox, abashed*
Ahem. That is all.
Wench
P.S. Don't know if you'll see it here but,
Mr. Compton, if you're out there, special thanks to you for Kelsey. I'm just finishing
TOB now, and he's a masterpiece. I know I should probably post that in the Kelsey forum, but I've gone on too long at this point and want to get back to my game *lol* Perhaps later.
