Just to give you a taste of the Romance here is a quote from one of Edwin's possible new epilogues:
...

Alright, I found it! And I finally read it. :)

As you can probably guess, I will never agree with the notion that Elminster is smug or condescending, but overall it was pretty mild (and meant to be humorous). Besides, I *did* promise I wouldn't "criticize" this epilogue, so I am not going to launch into a speech about how Elminster really isn't smug (or something like that). ;)

See, I told you it wouldn't be all that bad. ;) The mood of the others is very similar.

Imho you should also give Edwin the chance to become zulkir of Conjuration in Thay (and not just for a day, but forever). He usually is more powerfull than Szass Tam after TOB...

OK, I just can't let that bit about Szass Tam go unchallenged, for a few reasons:

How is power measured in this case? Personally, I think power has more to do with just levels. In any case:

1) Szass Tam is (as I recall) lvl 30. The highest a mage can get in ToB is 31 (which really isn't much more powerful), and that is unlikely to happen if you are playing the game normally and using 6 characters in your party.

2) Szass Tam has been a lich for over 200 years, so he has a *lot* of experience under his belt, not to mention a whole cache of artifact level items (probably more so than even the ToB party has).

3) He has vast armies of undead at his beck and call. Not to mention alliances with other zulkirs. This guy secretly wants to become the ruler of all Thay (with the justification that Thay would be "better off" with him ruling it), so on a side note, he could be Edwin's friend or enemy depending on what Edwin would be willing to do for him, so to speak (ie. would Edwin be his ally, or "back him up"?).

*Riona whips out her white fans with red suns painted on them, opens them up, and waves them around wildly to show her support for Ano*

Just wanted to share this one with you - I run through the whole romance up to the point where it is coded to test it - and I had Anomen romance going - so at some point he was talking about the Order, and Edwina added a few poisonous remarks, and he put her down. But right after that she launched into one of her speeches and Ano jumpes in and she comes back at him with that 'chivalry Anomen, chivalry' remark. I think they had to gather me from the floor with a spoon after that one ...

Oh, and I love Ano if you want to know - but I always play the CN one - he is my favorite anti-hero, brooding and repentant.

Freedom cannot be equated with goodness, virtue, or perfection. Freedom has its own unique self-contained nature; freedom is freedom ? not universal goodness. Any confusion or deliberate equalization of freedom with goodness and excellence is in itself negation of freedom, and acceptance of the path of restraint and enforcement.

Thanks for sharing that. :) Truth be told, adding "Anomen dialogue" is, in itself, enough of an incentive for me to try out this mod because I like Anomen so much. I love Anomen, but I had a blast playing through the Kelsey mod partly because of the conflicts between Kelsey and Ano. At first I was actually afraid that I'd feel sorry for Anomen and wouldn't want to proceed with the Kelsey romance, but when they started "taking shots" at each other and fought over the PC, I was having too much fun to notice. ;)

As for me--I love LG Anomen. I will freely admit, though, that part of the reason I never force him to fail his test is because I like him to much to "hurt" him like that, if you know what I mean. It's silly, but I can't argue with my feelings. ;)

Hi everyone! I'm horribly new here, so please forgive my pathetic attempt at figuring out how to use these boards.

I've been waiting for an Edwin Romance ever since I first heard of the existence of mods, and finally found this place via the Attic. When I heard Laufey was in charge of it, I squealed like a very squealing person. Laufey-- you rock.

I used to be a devout member of the Squaresoft cult, having only heard of Bioware and BG from the "Megatokyo" cast. When a classmate told me about Baldur's Gate, I was sceptical at first... until said classmate informed me of the fact that there would be gender-bending involved, and after hearing about the Salvanas dialogue I decided I had to play this game.

Edwin, of course, quickly became my favourite character. So far I've only played SoA and ToB-- the original BG game and TotSC are absolutely impossibly to find here in Europe. Meh.

Anyway, before I quit this (already too long) ramble, a couple of things I'd like to say/ask/whatever:

1) Laufey, I think Galen is my long lost twin. ;)

2)Wonderful idea to write new dialogue for Ani! I've romanced him once, and while the "knight in shining armor" routine was a bit tedious at first, I quickly discovered he's the single most complex character in the game. I love him to death, and from what I've read, you have him perfectly in character.

3) I think I know the portrait you found for Edwina... I was planning on using it for my protagonist during the mod, but that would be quite impossible if that same portrait is already used by Eddie. Could you please email me the pic you're gonna use for Edwina? Just so I know my main char and Eddie won't look completely alike. ^^;

Hi there and welcome! I'm flattered to hear you enjoy my writing that much, and I hope you'll like the mod when it's done. Work is progressing, I promise. ;)

I'm fond of Ano myself, so as I said above I've tried to make it so that he doesn't get completely pounded by Edwin in their jealous spats. When Ano interferes with Edwin, then Edwin wins, and the other way around.

The Edwina portrait we're using has been somewhat modified from it's original state, so it won't be *quite* identical to the one you have, I think. I'd prefer to keep it somewhat secret for now actually, unless we've posted it somewhere already. I like surprising people. :)

You know the char that Eddwin is turning out looks verry, verry interesting. But I have a question. I personaly have no intention to romance Edwin or the other part of him/her, but I am intersted in the his banter. So my question, is could it be posible to make it so, when a male PC plays the game that Edwin romances Npc female magic users (Arie, Imoen, Vic or any othe spell caster Npc) so he would act the way the mod itended but not romance PC? Was that to complicated? ;)
Simply can Edwin have his romnce banter with spell casting Npc that PC is not romancing. It would be refreshing experience in my party.

Yes, when you play male, will this mod add extra banters and interjections for Edwin to the game? Aside fom the Edwina thing.

At this point, the Edwina banters with male PC is the only added extra banter for males. Possibly I might add something else at a later stage, that remains to be seen, but right now I wish to focus on the main romance.

I also don't think I will have Edwin romancing any female NPC, at least I don't plan that at this point. This is since I don't think Edwin is one to fall in love easily - the PC is a rare exception from the casual flirting he does towards other women in the regular game. :)

Surrender.

pale like the first snow.
cold as the tempting, tentative touch,

dim like the early morning -
smooth, and sugary,

warm, as only a spring morning can be,
delicate like a child's fingers.

surrender.

surrender me.

cool like the blade of a dagger.

Hello everyone. Long time lurker, never posted before, but I so LOVE the idea of this MOD that I had to check in and ask: OK... Update pweese? I know the tentative release was this fall, and I can only guess at the kind of work that goes into making a high quality MOD (I once tried to suss out the workings of MOD-making... It made my brain go "ow"), so I'm by no means trying to be pushy... just eager :)

In other news, I offer my deepest thanks to all the Forgotten Wars team, and Infinity MODers everywhere. The BG series are simply the greatest RPG video games ever released. I have been waiting with hope in my heart for something that even REMOTELY compares and been unutterably, heartbrokenly disappointed by Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights, and most recently, the tragically lackluster Lionheart. Looking forward at previews and rumours of games in development, it seems that all the professional sutdios have turned to the sterile, base "make-a-buck" mentality of shooters and dungeon crawls. Even those that attempt to involve well-written dialogue and fascinating plots/concepts (I still sigh with regret over the potential that was Lionheart's story/concept) somehow miss or ignore the character development for NPCs, the personal growth for the PC that comes from those interactions... the EMOTIONAL and cerebral aspect of the "epic".

THIS is what makes great fiction. This is what keeps characters living in your heart long after the credits have rolled, and gives you goosebumps whenever you hear the BG overture on the start-up screen... This is why no self-resepcting gamer geek doesn't know who Boo is, and why with all the other games that have come out in the interim, with their swanky engines and graphics and bullshit bells and whistles, can't manage to hold my attention, much less touch my heart.

Where was I going with this? Oh, yeah. Thank you, MODers, for keeping the flame burning, for giving me reasons to return to Faerun over and again, for making me laugh and get teary-eyed and generally making me REALLY happy *laugh* I know how much time it must take, and that you all aren't getting paid and that this is a sometimes thankless labour of love. You guys are the schiznit. <----(that's a good thing)

*delicately steps down off her soapbox, abashed*

Ahem. That is all.

Wench

P.S. Don't know if you'll see it here but, Mr. Compton, if you're out there, special thanks to you for Kelsey. I'm just finishing TOB now, and he's a masterpiece. I know I should probably post that in the Kelsey forum, but I've gone on too long at this point and want to get back to my game *lol* Perhaps later.

Bah! Jason we don't bite. Or if we do - the poison is quite lame.

Thank you for your inquiry. I am sorry for the delays - but unfortunately we don't have as much coding resourses as we would like to have (to put it blunt I have to handle writing a novel and another mod and code this one, mostly alone) thus the progress is slow, but it does go on, and it will be finished one day...

Freedom cannot be equated with goodness, virtue, or perfection. Freedom has its own unique self-contained nature; freedom is freedom ? not universal goodness. Hello there! :) If we're lucky, it may be sometime this fall, yes, but RL is a harsh mistress, so we dare not promise for certain. I do however promise that work is going on behind the scenes. Hope you'll enjoy the mod once it's ready! :)
