but the hard part is writing the witty sayings...and I am tapped out for that...I can't write npc dialog at all..much better at situational comedy or evil parody...

Actually the hardest part, I think is writing the witty dialog...it would simply be a conditional chain, as I understand weidu, and I dont, it should be pretty easy to place an invisible cre to initiate the dialog, and the chain would see which npcs are in the party, and trigger the correct dialogs....
Err ... nothing is ever as easy as it looks. I may look into this when we are done with what is already there. It is hard enough to code the existing romance. We can think of adding niceties later.
By the way User - if you are so enthused about it - why don't you try to learn a little bit of weidu, starting with tutorials? It took me, about a year to get to the point of being able to code anything decent. I am not being sarcastic if you are wondering. Only hopeful.
Freedom cannot be equated with goodness, virtue, or perfection. Freedom has its own unique self-contained nature; freedom is freedom ? not universal goodness. Any confusion or deliberate equalization of freedom with goodness and excellence is in itself negation of freedom, and acceptance of the path of restraint and enforcement.

And if this question has been answered in a previous post, would someone direct me there? I've been skimming over the various messages, and I have seen references to people testing it and whatnot, but I can't seem to find the download anywhere.

I actually might...in about a year or so, after I get my frigging life back into order...currently unemployed due to medical reasons, and I am learing Isdn, and ddr...both of which are hard, finishing up my ccnp....the cisco stuff, very hard to learn...then, when I get back to work, weidu and nearinfinity might be fun... I have noticed over the years that my dislike of programming is tapering off...and a purely fun learning hobby might be fun...Actually the hardest part, I think is writing the witty dialog...it would simply be a conditional chain, as I understand weidu, and I dont, it should be pretty easy to place an invisible cre to initiate the dialog, and the chain would see which npcs are in the party, and trigger the correct dialogs....

but if i try it, it will be once I have a job back, and honestly...working with wans and lans is more than merely fun...its what I wanna do for the rest of my life, and you know, in network support you never ever really stop learning...after I finish getting the ccnp, and go back to work, I wanna work with vpn, and bgp....bgp is nasty and tough enough to occupy me for some years yet...it took me 6 months to learn switching well enough to consider myself qualified to say I actually know switching...
heck, dorotea, you know exactly what I am talking about...you never ever stop learning in your specialty in information technology...
and i still admit I dont care for programming very much...even when I write configuration files for a router or a switch, I tend to go for quick and dirty implementation, with little or no documentation, merely to get a hot fix in place, and leave the standard cofiguration to other people...I've always been valued as a patch person, someone to get some broken bits working, and I've always been shuttled from a hot spot to hot spot when I was working...I am fully capable and quite good at putting a full implementation for a network in place, but they never let me do that...I guess i just got too good at quick and dirty fixes, and thats what they had me doing...
but yeah, I probably will look at weidu in the future...I know there are more writers than programmers in the community, and if I learn weidu and scripting, I will be sucked into one mod maker or another if I start working on mods...
it does look fun...

I have finished the writing of the dialogues, and we are in the middle of coding it, and beta testing it in stages. I'm afraid I can't tell you exactly when it will be ready for download, but we are working continously. Thank you for your interest, I hope you will like the mod when it's done.Err, forgive my ignorance and perpetual laziness... but, has the Edwin Romance mod been completely developed yet? Or is it still in the process...?

um...did I do that right?....
Yeah, I know what you mean. I've been sucked into the world of playing mods, and I love writing so I've already started on my own, then got the weidu tutorials and will eventually start learning actually programming....
I just tell myself it's only a hobby...no pressure. By the time I learn this stuff I even wonder if people will still be playing BGII...in the next eight years I imagine. I hope things work out for you though; it sounds like you've got a lot to deal with.
Also a (partially) crazy elf assassin mod
And a romance for two tiefling sisters, among other mods-in-progress

Glad to hear you're looking forward to the romance. As for Edwin's feelings...my personal opinion is that he has them, but he is woefully inept at dealing with them. This mod sounds wonderful and I'm eager to see how Edwin's personality will deal with a romance. The man has feelings, but it is obvious that they mean little to him. Or, at the very least, he keeps them in that state.

Laufey: Hey, I thought I'd just drop in and wish you the best of luck with the mod. I may be a male, but as soon as this is completed, I'm going to start a female character and play it through...just to see Edwin getting all romantic! I must admit that I find it difficult to imagine Edwin being in love with anyone apart from himself, but I've read the dislogues you posted in the Attic and I can see that it makes sense. Not to mention that you and Silver both make it work well in your Edwin romance stories. Looking forward to the completed mod!Welcome to Edwin Romance mod forum! The mod was in the work for some time but we finally decided to come out in the open with it! You are welcome to express your opinion on the project in this new forum.
Just to give you a taste of the Romance here is a quote from one of Edwin's possible new epilogues:
"It was during this uncharacteristically soul-searching period of his life that Edwin encountered Elminster the Sage once more. Having always despised the elderly wizard's smug and condescending attitude, Edwin spared no time in aggravating him. Innocent bystanders later quoted him as having said: 'Well, at least *I* gained my powers through the efforts of my unsurpassed mind, and not through being the pleasure-boy of the Goddess of Magic. (And I hear he was quite unsatisfactory as well. Probably that ridiculous hat is some crude form of compensation.)'
Elminster's retaliation would no doubt have been both cruel and sadistic, if he had had the time to get a spell off. What he hadn't counted on was Edwin's use of a spell trigger, and not just any old spell trigger, but the most rare and feared summoning spell of all, the dreaded Cow Kill.
It seems that not even the pampered Chosen of Mystra are entirely immune to the effects of having a very large cow dropped on top of their head from a very great height. Though it failed to kill him, it knocked Elminster out cold for several days, and he never could look upon a cow again without twitching nervously. Before leaving, Edwin is also said to have done something incredibly nasty involving Elminster's famous pointy hat. The details are perhaps better left unspoken, though since then Elminster seems to have exchanged his once favorite headgear for a soft and floppy woolen cap. "

Thank you very much for the kind words, Billy. I really appreciate them, and I'm glad to hear you find the dialogues I've posted so far to be believable. Work on the mod is progressing, and I hope you will enjoy it when it is done.Laufey: Hey, I thought I'd just drop in and wish you the best of luck with the mod. I just have 2 little questions:
1) With which characters does he have most interactions (well, maybe not most. Lets say, most interesting)? I know for sure I'm going to get Anomen in my party, even if I hate this guy. Just to see Eddie being mean to him.
and 2) WHEN will I be able to get my hands on this mode? WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN WHEN???!!! (I think that clearly shows how desperate I am, doesn't it? )

Glad you like the idea.I've just discovered this project and... wow. Genius idea. I was so disappointed with the original romance. I simply CAN'T STAND this "knight in a shining armor" babbling about order all the time. Now Eddie... Yes, that would be much more... interesting, to say the least.

1) He has plenty of jealous spats with Anomen, they both interfere with each other's lovetalks on more than one occasion. The other NPC:s he interacts with as normal, with a couple of minor alterations.
2) Can't give you a date yet, but beta testing is going on. Some time this autumn would be a tentative guess, but we still have plenty to do, especially with the ToB part, so I can't say closer than that. Once Eddie does get there though, prepare for Erotic Onslaught.

By the way, great job on the dialogues so far, Laufey.
Carry on.

I'm afraid I can't mention a month yet, I'd rather be vague than risk disappointing people. Most of the SoA romance is currently finished and is being playtested, but some tricky scripts remain to be ironed out before we can move on to ToB.Sometime this Autumn? Which month would that be, exactly? Hopefully long before I finish Baldur's Gate so I can import my character into SoA and allow Edwin to make sweet, passionate love to me... I mean, her.
Ahem.
By the way, great job on the dialogues so far, Laufey.
Carry on.
And I'm happy to hear you like the dialogues! There will be many new dialogue options in the final version, to provide more variety and greater replayability, I hope. Thanks for your kind words!

Y'know, I don't particularly like Cernd, or even keep him in my party... but doing *really* nasty things to him makes me cringe a little. Must be because of possible Cruelty to Animals

Don't worry, the Cernd thing was only in my story. The mod doesn't do anything in particular to him.Awww, please keep it *optional*

Alright, I found it! And I finally read it.Just to give you a taste of the Romance here is a quote from one of Edwin's possible new epilogues:
...
As you can probably guess, I will never agree with the notion that Elminster is smug or condescending, but overall it was pretty mild (and meant to be humorous). Besides, I *did* promise I wouldn't "criticize" this epilogue, so I am not going to launch into a speech about how Elminster really isn't smug (or something like that).

BOOOOOO!!!and i bet we both agree on anomen being a insufferable git....

*Riona whips out her white fans with red suns painted on them, opens them up, and waves them around wildly to show her support for Ano*
Take THAT!!!
