*smirks* That line has just put some very interesting images in my head...
It always does that to me too when he says it in the game, using that divine accent... *sigh*
when i first read this, i kept thinking...i dont remember this...and i am pretty sure i would remember any minsc dialog about boo wearing pants...
had this sudden mental image of boo wearing teenie tiny black leather pants and teenie tiny black leather haltertop...
amazing what happens in the morning before your caffine takes effect...
Boo in black leather pants...ack! Now that's a twisted image for you. Everybody knows he prefers silk boxers.
she....boo is distincty referred to as she...if you do a "createcreature: "boo""
and cntrl q her, and bring into your party, and check her stats...(i would never have had boo in haltertop if i hadnt checked her gender...)
though i have written some dialog sbmissions for ala, you know that wild mage npc project that kinda died a while back???
do you remember??? i had to write boo as a he, so i can write this little bit....
(this is based on the fact that a wand of polymorph looks like a back scratcher shaped like a stick with a wooden hand at the end....)
ala: hey charname, can you pass me the wand of polymorph???
charname: here ya go...hey, should you be scratching your back with that? it is almost fully charged...
ala: well it is the perfect back scratcher, shaped just right..as long as my hand doesnt slip and press the activation button i sho.....
"POOF!!!"
pc: ala??? oh crap nebula, hey aerie, edwin, solafein...who has got a dispell magic spell handy? i used mine up today....boo? whatya doing, kiddo, boo? BOO!!! NO BOO, ALA IS AN ELF GIRL, NOT A GIRL HAMSTER!!! MINSC, COME GET BOO!!! MINSC!!!
hey, maybe hello cthulhu can shift direction, and be the first fanstories about the Boo P.O.V!!!!!!!!!!
by the way, a new one is out in the attic, and something bad and funny happens to evil aerie....hahhahahhahahhahha....
Boo is a she? I had no idea! But doesn't it say in the Infinity Explorer item description something like: 'Isn't he cute?' I could have sworn I've read that.
Anyway, loved the CHARNAME/Boo transformation! And I'll have to check out the Aerie thing as soon as possible.

If I createcreature: "boo" and ctr-q him into my party he's showing up as male. Maybe you're thinking of boo2 which comes with the Solaufein mod (Solaufein summons her for Jan).she....boo is distincty referred to as she...if you do a "createcreature: "boo""
and cntrl q her, and bring into your party, and check her stats...(i would never have had boo in haltertop if i hadnt checked her gender...)

I've always thought Edwin was especially charming while discussing rodents in leggings with Minsc. *sigh*
LOL! Oh yes...the only rodent in his pants doesn't squeak when he touches it. *sigh*
It always does that to me too when he says it in the game, using that divine accent... *sigh**smirks* That line has just put some very interesting images in my head...
Oh yes... *sigh* That wonderful, wonderful accent...just one of the many things that makes Edwin so great!

LOL! Thank you very much, I'm glad you're enjoying my novel. I hope you'll enjoy the mod as well. Work is progressing nicely, the Edwina segment is almost done now. And Softpaws says hello to your cat too!Hee hee. So ever since I've been biting my nails waiting for this mod to come out I've decided my only other outlet was to read Laufey's romance, which has turned my thighs blue from all the slapping during guffaws. The That Picture of Imoen's...nods to Monty Python...humorous exchanges of wit often involving Edwin...THE BIRDS AND FLOWERS TALKS!! - *sigh* - granted it's campy, but done so well!! I'm sure my neighbors(apartment...evil, evil apartment) are wondering what all the shrill squeaks of laughter are all about. I'm only on Ch. 160 something, and I skipped the first 20 of so to get to Edwin(loved the accidental conjuration of little blue men and subsequent crashing into of two star-crossed meant-to-be'ers), but I must admit I'm quite entertained. The waiting has just been made worse tenfold because I can't wait to see what dialogue options I will have!! I want to get drunk and play footsy while Jaheira shakes her head in embarrasement! Curse you, Laufey, curse you and all your Bard Ruminations!!! Fine, okay....back to my little hovel of a studio. At least I have my art to comfort me. And my cat. And maybe the pizza boy.

...speaking of which, this "Edwin ringer" you spoke of months ago hasn't produced any public samples yet, has he?Oh yes... *sigh* That wonderful, wonderful accent...just one of the many things that makes Edwin so great!
I'd still advise you to reconsider your policy of only having this guy voice the new lines. Male Edwin has something like 110 samples through SOA and TOB. That's a lot, but that's not an insurmountable number, and well worth it to preserve continuity for such a project in my mind.
...and I speak from experience having done the Item Upgrade Cespenar stuff. I know that it doesn't mesh terribly well. I would have revoiced the original part if I felt that the project was worth more than the time I put into it (which I didn't, because... well, it was a throwaway effort on my part for Cespenar, who is a sidebar at best rather than a meaty romance) and if I felt I could do as good of a job as the original ON the original lines, which I wasn't terribly convinced of. Hopefully you and your actor feel convinced of at least one and maybe both of those.

Our 'Edwin ringer' is alive and well, and sounds as perfect as ever. Lol!
Jason, you will just have to wait and see (or hear) with everybody else. Thank you for your help with sound file links by the way - I may use some extra compression in the LR as well.
Freedom cannot be equated with goodness, virtue, or perfection. Freedom has its own unique self-contained nature; freedom is freedom ? not universal goodness. Any confusion or deliberate equalization of freedom with goodness and excellence is in itself negation of freedom, and acceptance of the path of restraint and enforcement.

I'd be equally concerned with his sound studio set-up. Having volume shifts and static/hiss/echo is as jarring to immersion as an accent that's different than the original. Our 'Edwin ringer' is alive and well, and sounds as perfect as ever. Lol!

I shall refer your question to Ophidia, our handler of all things sound-related.I'd be equally concerned with his sound studio set-up. It's been my experience that you can produce good quality sound using very simple equipment, with a bit of know-how and some good sound sampling software. The secret of good quality recordings is simply not to stand too close to the mike. Also, with voice acting you really have to camp it up quite a bit in order for it to sound dramatic. Another thing to bear in mind is that BGII doesn't require CD quality sound, so you don't have to worry too much.I'd be equally concerned with his sound studio set-up. Having volume shifts and static/hiss/echo is as jarring to immersion as an accent that's different than the original. Our 'Edwin ringer' is alive and well, and sounds as perfect as ever. Lol!
As for sound volume, removing background hisses, etc...that'll all be sorted in editing!
If you feel your mods are lacking in the sound department, you can always ask a Gasping Concubine to help you out!

This is very much a your-mileage-may-vary/equipment-dependent issue, I believe. Of course, it also depends on your definition of "close", but I consider how I work as "close" (certainly within two feet, probably closer to one... hard to say, I'm always either looking at my nylon pop shield in the way or reading the monitor for my lines, not looking at the mic itself!), I believe Wynne also considers herself "close" and I know that on my friend Bohus's pro mic we stand VERY close indeed. Distance tends to lead to a greater chance for echo, in my experience. The secret of good quality recordings is simply not to stand too close to the mike.
As for CD quality... well, no, it's half the resolution of CD quality but that still leaves plenty of room to hear flaws. Certainly I don't often hear people complain that (well-done) BG2 audio sounds indistinct and muddy.

Yes, but what do you do when you're recording sound clips?
Oh, another really stupid trick with mikes that I find works well. If you're using a simple PC mike, and getting a lot of problems with pops and huffing, try putting a rolled up sock over the microphone. It works, honest!

Yeah, Sorschana also uses this method but I feel an improvised pop shield made out of pantyhose and a coathanger is more effective. The sock seems to be both more dampening of the overall sound quality AND lets more plosives through ANYWAY.

It's truly amazing to see and experience what every group here is able to create. I think I would have to quit my job and live this game 24/7 to really experience everything that people are coming out with.

Thank you! Yes, we certainly will do the best we can to achieve a satisfying result. Hopefull the players will also find it so.I'm very interested in how the new sounds will be and while I know that it certainly will be a risk-well, everyone involved with the making of this mod is concerned with quality and doing Edwin's character justice.

There will be plenty of romance conflict with Anomen at least. Three different epilogues. Edwin can romance any race, as long as the lady in question has Int 14 or above - it'll be up to the player to decide on which races she or he considers reasonable. I suppose you could call it 'dual-hetero'. The romance is open to female PC:s only, but there will be several romance dialogues while Edwin is Edwina and one opportunity for a male PC to have a little chat with Edwina as well. And I hope it will be very free from spelling errors. There will be an opportunity for the player to let Edwin have an alignment change, and subtly different romance dialogues in the ToB part depending on alignment, and you can get a happy ending with both. (It's set up similarly to Viconia's different dialogues.)Could somebody well-informed give me some idea of what the mod will be like? Will there be romance conflicts? How many epilouges will there be? What kind of character will Edwin romance? (Frankly, I just can't picture him romancing a dwarf, a halfling, a gnome or ... *snigger*... a half orc) Is it going to be hetero (most romances), bi (solaufein), homo (a mod being developed called Chloe, I think), or in Edwin's rather ... "unique" case dual-hetero? How error-free will it be from spelling/grammatical mistakes? Any info at all would be appreciated

Hm...I'm afraid I'm not too good with the technical side of computers. Hopefully somebody else around here will be able to help, since Edwin will indeed come with several sound clips, and it would be a shame for you to miss out on him and his Erotic Onslaught.I have a technical concern. As I am new to using computers in any form or fashion beyond writing papers(or playing games), I don't know all the intricacies of the world of downloads. I just use good ol' Fujifilm 2HD IBM hard disc thingies(looking straight off the disc thingie to write this)to download stuff - I have to get everything off a computer with internet access and then transport it via transportable info holders to my computer at home. Recently I've discovered my hard disc thingies are easily overcome with information - hence I've been unable to romance Kelsey while waiting for Edwin. Is there some other disc whatchamagadget with a larger memory capacity out there, and how do I use it? Suspecting that Edwin will come with dauntingly large memory-sucking sound clips, I'd hate to be faced with the completed mod and know he's so close, yet ever so far away. I doubt the other people in the library would care for my shrieks of despair as well.
Edwin: Well, naturally I should have an excellent array of sounds, as well as a powerful and highly intimidating personal music theme! Am I not Edwin Odesseiron, the possessor of the purest genius imaginable, as well as of the perfect male body? I deserve the best. (And I still think it's scandalous that Laufey won't get me a larger personal trailer, and sort the jelly beans out so I only get the red ones. Not to mention the severe lack of lackeys and flunkies to do my bidding.)
Laufey: Eddie...behave. And then come help me fix dinner, or I won't have any energy left for you this evening. Anyway, I hope the downloading problem will be solvable!
