Welcome! I noticed that smiley, it was very cute. As for the amulet, Ophidia had her solution to that puzzle, which was a great one. My explanation is different, and I'll insert more hints gradually as to what its secret is.

the god who dwells below, with a thousand young/offspring

is obviously a reference to

yog-shothoth, the black goat of the woods with a thousand young...

the rabbits...the rabbits...

btw...did you get annoyed with hp lovecraft as i did many years ago???i mean his earlier works, "call of cthuhu" and "at the mountains of madness" were good, but tword the end of his career, before he died, he kinda became a walking thesaurus...just pretentious and used a 20 dollar word where a 3 dollar word would have worked better...

i stopped reading him many years ago...but he did introduce me to lord dunsany, who is much much better writer, imho, and i would seriously recommend his "wonder tales" to anyone who is interested in really good fantasy...

The Lovecraft references are something that I felt suited Xzar very well. I agree that his books got a bit samey towards the end, yes. I'll have to keep Lord Dunsany in mind!

Coo, you read my Enjoyable Partnership series? I'm flattered! It sounds like you've not read the Attic boards, since the final story, Curse of Apathy, was actually completed a couple of months ago now. I'm currently working on a new story in the series, A Tale of Two Mages.

If you fancy reading something evil, dark and utterly non-Edwin related, you may want to take a look at Corruption of Keldorn, a dialogue sequence I wrote for a slightly unusual romance with keldorn... <_<

Anyway, since you've reminded me, I'll upload the next chapter while I think of it! In it, the two mages have a huge row, and we finally find out exactly what Edwin's amulet does!

Well, I posted the entire Curse of Apathy on the Attic boards ages ago, I'm just really slow at uploading it to the novellas section . Since you asked so nicely, (without death threats, which is quite unusual for the readership I attract) I'll upload part five tonight. It's a seven parter altogether.

The new story in the series is a ten parter, and I'm currently writing part eight out of a possible ten- unless it grows again!

i mean, cant you just see yourself walking into a used bookstore with a "hello cthulhu" tee shirt???

about half the people will just look at you funny, (they dont read for fun) but the other half will light up and giggle...

and kids will look at you funny, cause they will recognize the hello kitty character, and moms will come up to you and ask "where can i get this t shirt? my daughter has the complete hello kitty wardrobe, but she is missing this one..and this is so cute!!!"
