Ok I think I read there is a script error or something with the Melanthium battle on one of these forums? My problem is I can't kill the guy no matter how much damage I do to him. At one point I think I racked up almost 800 total damage dealt out on him. He just stays on the "near death" marker the rest of the way.
Any tips would be welcome.

The ones that heal your characters
The key of killing melithium is to get out of his sight
He have 4 attack script series
Not sure of Shield of obivilion's active ,but i know he casts at 1st and 3rd's start
1:He will Teleport and cast magic missle-->Rain of terror or wave of obligation
his first script,active when you start battle
then he will teleport to top side, cast miasma, and a all map true sight
2:He will cast infernal combustion/rain of terror when you show at his face again
then he walk to the middle of the room,Cast melithium's streamer and a few other PSQ spells
2nd part script
3:He will continue cast sorcerous bolt at nearby character
try get out of his sight
3rd part
4:if his life point is low enough, he will speak a line then go for a last serie
including power word:burn and maze and stuff
then if you hit him after he cast protecton from element, a diaglouge will begin
then he will die
this how you kill melithium
Oh one more thing, put protection from magical energy on every character
so you can defend against RAIN OF TERROR/Magic missle/Sorcerous Bolt

I actually found an even better way by accident.After the battle first starts and he moves NE in the room he freezes there (at least for me) if you send some summoned creatures for him to attack.He is covered by the black junk that you clear through movement (fog of war?)
At this point I made some area attacks (dragon breath,Horrid writing,etc.)Well he took all the damage but didn't come after me.Bad AI?
After bombing him that way a while he's toast.
As long as he's covered it's a pretty easy battle on any setting as long as you survive the initial salvos he lays on you.
Kind of a cheat I guess,but after the time I spent trying to get through him by normal means to hell with it.

that is what the point of my stradgey it
hide at bottom at start till he wasted most of his 1st script spell
but you still need to roll him to 2nd and 3rd script incase to kill him
(maybe Call shot will work, since mind flayer form can't hit him)
But Actually
Its piece a cake once you put protection from magical energy on everyone..
His main attack are all magic damage based
especially the killer rain of terror
(try taking it without any magic damage resistance
)1 Infernal combustion and 1 thunderbolt aren't much of a threat
