Aasimars and Tiefling have some damage resistance bonuses (see Haer'Dalis). Now is Ariena herself part Aasimar (if you can even talk of part Aasimars. You either one or you ain't... and she is one as she a child of one). In my eyes it depends a bit on what generation Aasimar you are, but it isn't unthinkable to have a few resistances left.

So, my question to you ppl's out there, resistances or no resistances?

And if resistances, how does the following sound?

Damage Resistance 5
Magic Damage Resistance 5
Fire Resistance 5
Poison Resistance 10

Considerably less then Haer'Dalis, but still nice.

Give me your opinions

I always though/think that the resistances of Hear'dalis is simply overpowered munchkin...
But I do only know the racial threads of Tieflings and Aasimar of D&D 3.0/3.5 and not the AD&D ones, so don't blame me.

I would give Ariena the whole resistances of an Aasimar (the child of an Aasimar is also an Aasimar, if I remember correctly). But please don't give her resistance to fire, because Aasimare have nothing to do with it. Acid is a better choice.

Yep in AD&D there a bit more powerfull

Depeding on the generation Aasimars, Tieflings, Chaonds and Zenythris have special qualties (the ones in the Monster Manuals are standard). Cause if one of your parent is an extra planar creature you are i.e. a half-celestial, you can imagine that the child of half celestial is more powerful than grand-times 10-child is of a half-celestial.

I think I will keep myself more to the AD&D bonuses, but make Ariena and her mother more low generation. I'll look the bonuses up and post them somewhere next weekend probably, as I will be gone for a week as the board I am in is having a discussion week away from civilization so to speak. Please discuss people. Love to see results when I'm back.

Last I heard, Aasimar/Tiefling traits randomly spawn in the bloodline. The first few (3-4) generations it's still obvious there's outsider influence, but after that, it's as random as eyecolour.
Mom and dad can both look 100% normal with no wierd traits, but the kid can come out with a halo whole shooting lightning from it's eyes. So to speak.
Anyway, generation doesn't matter much after the first few.

Okay so I can't find the aasimar on my CD-ROM of AD&D rules.

Was thinking now more along the following lines:

Acid Resistance 5
Damage Resistance 5
Poison Resistance 10

Any comments on this?

Though I never gave any comment on you Drugar, I should have. Sorry for this. I do not agree with you on the matter though.

And are the bonuses that Hear'Dalis gets correct for a Tiefling? Cause he doesn't have a bonus of 50%, but a lot of usefull ones

It also seems strange to me that an aasimar gets thief bonuses as Tiefling are rather thieves and Aasimars paladins

They're from the Planewalker's Handbook. I don't have a copy myself, but Caedwyr graciously posted the stats on the LoI forums.

Can cast Darkness 15' Radius once per day

As for the thieving bonus, those may be their preffered class but remember they can be any class they want to be (just as not all halflings are thieves, and not all elves are rangers).

These are totally different than those of Hear'Dalis. Seems as BG2 took his own rules for that. Perhaps that is why I can do just the same?

Very friendly and though helpful for a part Tiefling character, Ariena is a half-Aasimar character. Can they also roll?

By the way, Hear'Dalis bonuses still aren't in that roled list...

If I didn't role and I just go for the three bonuses I last posted, what do you all think?

Instead of just randomly picking an ability/bonus, or picking the one which sounds most useful, you could also make your choice based on what type of being her divine ancestor was, i.e. Aaasimon, Archon, Asuras, Eladarin or Guardinal. Of course then you would need to have the stats for those beings .

Well I reckon I take the options

a reduced form of 64-66, just 10%
67-69
And keep the +2 against charm, fear or domination

or the

10% poison resistance
5% or 10% acid resistance
5% damage resistance

I don't want to overpower as she is quite easy to get

She has a nice magical item, but the rest is mundane, and she will have these bonuses. The rest is pretty straigthforward

Well Aasimars are outsiders as they are called in 3.5 and thus quite logical to find them in a Planecape setting.

But once again, which bonuses do you think are better? Hereby I also mean you guys, NiGHTMARE and Stonewol

I'd suggest choosing the planar ancestor first. That'll give you a base from which to pick the racial abilities. Any idea which you want?

No, I haven't decided that. Her mother was an aaismar, that is why she is aasimar. Ariena isn't the first in line and I don't really intergrated her history that deep as Ariena is manly focussed on her mother.
