Modders: What was it like your first time?

Just thinking.
With the gracious help of Reapper99, Shed, SConrad, Awake and others here I am about 80% done with my first NPC mod...though I have a ways to go yet, I am mildly amazed at how long it is taking me.
(Having read Ghreyfan's "One day NPC" tuto)
So, I am wondering... for those who mod often and frequently and know what they are doing (Now): What was it like for you, learning and such, when doing your Very First Mod?

They say the world is going to Hell.
They are wrong.
The world IS Hell! Always has been, always will be; except perhaps for the five percent or so of the population who can afford differently.
And, if one must reside in Hell, it is far better to do it as a minion of the Devil than as a member of the damned.

And I should probably add that my first attempt at modding was fixing up the dialogues for Planar Sphere Expansion. My first released work was the SoA stripdown, and the first actual mod I started work on was DLTC.

DLTCEP! (gurgles and bows to Avenger)Fucking terrible. I gave up for a good few months having struggled with IDU and ICM for a ridiculous amount of time. You people should be glad you have decent tools to work with.
WeiDU! (same to Weimer)
Yay !
My first mod was The One Ring. It was so poor it was intimidating. Hlid called it a "shotgun blast to the override folder", as I will probably always remember . It took me a few weeks, and it absolutely didn't win TBG's first ever contest.
Don't worry: it is a lot better now .

It was an easteregg I made as a joke, that never got released. It was supposed to get incorperated into Grog's "Dark Awakenings" mod for BG1 but that one died. Beware "The Curse of Noober"!What was your first mod?

It amazes me. I read about One Day NPC's, yet it takes me frickin' MONTHS to get mine even NEAR together (WITH A LOT OF HELP FROM: Reapper99, Shed, SConrad, Awake and others) and now I hear others had a bit of trouble breaking in too, as it were.
This gives me hope, oddly.
Thanks to what I have learned from those above, and others, I THINK I may get this NPC of mine done, and I THINK I may someday be able to make another - ALL ON MY OWN... though scripting might be always a little beyond me.
I also have the idea I might have to HIRE a codechecker/correcter long term. My problem is that I don't know code well enough to know IF something is screwy or WHERE the screwy section is.
I AM learning however.
Happy thus far.

Don't the remains of Dark Awakenings live on in Dark Horizons, hosted over at the Chosen of Mystra? It was an easteregg I made as a joke, that never got released. It was supposed to get incorperated into Grog's "Dark Awakenings" mod for BG1 but that one died. Beware "The Curse of Noober"!

I am making my second mod now that the TOB portion of Tsujatha has been released. I have a modding partner for this one, and it has a projected release date of Halloween. The Yasraena Mod was begun at the end of September. So we've learned how to go a bit faster with this one!

Instead I wrote for TS and after failing to convince Vlad to code Kivan's romance, I joined BG1NPC team a couple of years ago. To write Kivan's dialogues.
I am still working for BG1NPC, the first mod I consider 'mine' by spirit...
And I still feel the same way I felt when not making my first mod.
Obsessed.
With Kivan.
I think it was for the best that I have not done my first mod. It would have been a horrible thing and I probably would have never become involved with much more interesting mods

Nope. Dark Awakenings died during one of those vicious "HD Crashes" and Grog moved on to work on IWD mods. It was going to be partially resurrected in the Black Tidings mod, conjoining to be the Dark Tidings Mod. That died during another "HD Crash" that Mordan Dragon Slayer endured.Don't the remains of Dark Awakenings live on in Dark Horizons, hosted over at the Chosen of Mystra?
Not wanting to suffer a HD crash myself, I never attempted to resurrect any part of it either.

I got the two confused then, I must have missed the demise of Black Tidings. What happened to DA is a shame, I had been looking forward to it for very long.Nope.
