Well, I wanted to change the menu design and set to work last night and came up with the following. After browsing through all the .mos files I can see I have a LOT of work to do in order to come up with a complete design (what, 50-some files that all need to match one design?).

I can already see many problems that I'll have to try and overcome if I'm going to keep this design, as I started it before looking through the rest of the .mos files (I just wanted to see if I could do it). Anyway, mainly the 6 buttons will cause troubles but I think I could possibly redo other things (like the inventory, character screens, etc) that would match and just have the main menu a seperate design or something. Bah.

Oh the image isn't fullscreen obviously. I just cut it down so it wouldn't take so long to load. I think the fullsize is 1024X768, or abit larger. It takes awhile for actions to render (in PSP) but I find that if you zoom out a couple of times it speeds up.

Anyway, constructive criticism would be nice. Any ideas on how I can overcome some of these problems would be great.

Colour me quite impressed, by the new GuI. By the way, where did you get the graphics from? Did you make it yourself?

Thanks. :)

Well, I tried it out in BG2 and it looks alright. I noticed the default buttons were there regardless, which is fine as I didn't like mine much. And while the colours don't precisely match with my colours, they don't conflict that much either.

Now I've got to convert some parts to work for Shadows of Amn, etc.. bah. This is what you get when you don't plan ahead.. didn't save before I added the Throne of Bhaal text either. ;) Well.. I did but WAY before.. then again, hmm.. *wanders off to work on it*

Yeah, I knew it was risky to use but I wanted it to be a little different. But I know what you mean. I've been considering changing it to something more plain. Perhaps your feedback will be enough. :)

if you fill in the 'a' so it is ledgeable and mabey a texture/pattern on it, it would look ok, I think, I like the glow on it

Perhaps a different font with a weathered bronze texture?

That might be a good idea, Wolfmeister! Give me a few minutes and I'll have a new version of it (full size this time).

Excellent! The new lower text matches the rest of the screen much better. :)

it looks good, but what is the text on the buttons going to look like?

And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted - nevermore!

Exactly the same as it normally does. In fact the buttons are just the default buttons. I've tried it in game and the default buttons override mine, though I haven't really looked for any .mos files for the buttons.

I know they must exist somewhere, right? Wouldn't make sense if they didn't. :) I guess that's what I should look into next.

I think the text is in bam format, at least for some stuff.
