Unbelievable Vampiric Touch Bug

The spell description says 1d6 dmg for every 2lvls up to 6-36dmg which the caster gains on top of his current hit points....
What actually happens?? Except that dmg is never so little let me mention this :
I managed to kill an ogre magi in the copper coronet with just one vampiric touch...
Today i cast it on a monster with magic resistance... Of course no dmg was dealt..but guess what i got +70 hit points....so i then had a mage with 150 hit points or so...the spell should just fizzle on magic resistance not work at its super max!! i cant believe u can get 70hit points or kill anyone with this unbelievable spell which actually should be banned from the game....3rd level spell and deals 50dmg at least, no save...
As much as i love it i hate it...
I thought there was a baldurdash fix about this...but i doubt if its implemented in the bp...

It will grant bonus hps even when MR prevents the damage, though. That's standard.

Actually its true...You can't get the bonus hit points more than once...That's odd. The spell should never do more than 36 magic damage, or give a bonus of more than 36 hp. They even put an effect prevently you from getting a bonus from two of these spells at the same time.
It will grant bonus hps even when MR prevents the damage, though. That's standard.
But when u do u actually get 50 to 80 extra hit points which is just unbalanced for a 3rd level spell...Also in ad&d a touch was required...where is that? At least if it is to be that powerful a touch should be required...

As for the "touch" thing, I guess it's because it enables to prevent double HP gain (you have an immune to spell opcode, but not an immune to item opcode.)

Nope.Have you Weimer's Spell-50 installed? (or, eventually, does BP feature it hard-wired?)

I have encountered this a few times before, sometime Vamp touch will affect the target twice if auto pause is on, giving double hp gain and some times double damage as well. This has happened in an un modded, unpatched game, an un modded fully patched game as well as a fully patched and modded game, so a mod is probably no the issue.
It also affects the wizard spell as well as the inate ability, so that isn't the cause either.

Yes i have it on!! That MUST be the reason then...and yes i have that problem with both the innate AND the wizard spell i think....i guess next baldurdash fix pack should include it then...Do you have "auto pause when spell cast" on?

It wouldn't be a baldurdash type fix, but instead a game engine problem. Live with it or not are the only options.....i guess next baldurdash fix pack should include it then...

i know its a game engine problem...but patches are also supposed to solve these kind of problems...and since baldurdash include patch fixes that the official patch didn't include I assumed such a problem could also be included there...It wouldn't be a baldurdash type fix, but instead a game engine problem. Live with it or not are the only options.....i guess next baldurdash fix pack should include it then...
