Whatever the game says, that's what it does. It kills all the inmates, end of story. It's a death that cannot be avoided by any means.

True, that's what auto-death does.
But would it not be possible to somehow alter Irenicus' behavior (and possibly remove the auto-death), so that Tiax still has a chance to join?

Archmage - nope. I, at least, never got to SpellHold before Firkraag. Athakla after you got out of the underdark, possibly helping you tackle Bodhi... one mage might be in Suldanessalar...


So? In the PPG Banter Back, for example, they include an Imoen/Jaheira banter about Yoshimo, and an Imoen/Edwina banter. Most players would have completed Irenicus Dungeon before the Imoen/Jaheira banter would occur (I never saw it anyway), and most players would certainly complete the Edwina quest before going to Spellhold. 'Tis all a matter of how you play the game.

They could, however, help you kill Bohdi, or give you new quests in Athkatla after you return from the Underdark. Gives you something to do before you (finally) get Immy's soul back. She'll just have to deal with the emptiness. :P

1)So? So one should place a new NPC in a place where the players are likely to encounter him, not in a place where they are not etc. And if the banter you describe works that way, then it's flawed - it should be triggered 10 seconds after the second assassin you meet in Irenicus's dungeon.

I agree that those banters are placed in a rather odd fashion. I'd prefer they alter it, but I can live with missing two costum banters... Indeed something to avoid.

It's probably just scripted in with one block of code, so it shouldn't be too hard to stop.

Anyway, I was thinking about Tiax's weapon...
Wouldn't it be possible to create a new weapon that is similar to the Staff-Mace?
It would be a Staff as weapon type, but it would look and act entirely like a short sword (and maybe adds backstabbing, if it doesn't make ALL staves suited for backstab). It could be called the Staff-Sword of Cyric or something. :blink:

*Want's a staff-sword of Cyric* :unsure: they just look so cool.... I think they do suit Tiax's character and a devotee of Cyric better, as well.

That might be possible, though most of Tiax's stats are quite avarage. If it's tied to his class (Cleric/Thief), it would secure a lot, methinks, though I'm unsure whether that's possible.

Maybe an alignment restriction? (Can only be used by Chaotic Evil characters)
I can't see Mazzy using it. :P

Heh, if it stops it... then I can save Naljer? My single most favorite non-joinable BG2 NPC :) Might be worth replaying BG2 for it...
