Is Tiax a Cleric to Cyric? I can't remember

He is.

He obviously worships Cyric, but also seems to share a touch of his madness.

Aye. Doesn't sound too hard to alter, though I haven't tried any modifications yet. Well other than Shadowkeeper and trying out Infinity Explorer and Near Infinity. (and failing to comprehend, I might add )

A short sword *does* seem to suit him better. Should he use the gnomish cleric avatar, or the gnomish thief avatar? Perhaps an optional Priest of Cyric kit and/or new portrait?

It would require modifying all the Short Swords in the game (and then all of his class would be able to use them), or changing his class to another one. Either way is messy.

As an aside, I am planning a Strifeleader of Cyric cleric kit for a future version of Cleric Remix.

Isn't it possible to assign short swords specifically to the Priest of Cyric kit? Or would that mess up? x-x

Throughout several threads Hishi and I were talking about a Tiax-based Mod.
You would somehow free Tiax from his cell (and keeping him alive during the fight with Jon Irenicus), and if the PC is female you can start a "romance" with him, where you help him throughout his plans to rule the world.

Of course Tiax wouldn't rule the entire world, but perhaps he could rule a pocket plane of his own. Maybe that will satify him enough, at least if he doesn't notice.

Somehow I have trouble envisioning Tiax as a standard "loving" romance character, so the LoveTalks would have to be...well...in-character and quite different from the original styles used.
Perhaps:

(Pleasure) Slave --> Servant --> Respected Servant --> Advisor --> Near-equal

I think it is pretty do-able, and a welcome change from the usual romances. What do you think?

I think you could just get the spell Demiplane Seed, which creates a tiny demiplane in the ethereal plane. Stick Tiax in there, and he contols an entire plane. Granted, it's only 10' in radius for every level of the caster, but to Tiax that's probably large enough.

You cannot add new kit flags, you'd have to add to an existing kit's restrictions. And even then it could only be used if the weapon type was available to the base class in the first place. So the options would be:

- Make Cleric-Thieves be able to use Short Swords, by editing WEAPPROF.2DA and all the short sword .ITM files.
- Change Tiax's class to Thief. Or anything else that can use a Short Sword.
- Install Ashes of Embers, which gives all classes access to all weapons in the unmodded game anyway. www.pocketplane.net

The bottom line is, there's no decent way to keep Tiax a Cleric-Thief but let only him be able to use short swords.

Yay! I always felt the game lacked in elemental spells, apart from fire and electricity based ones... Would it be possible to give the priests of Auril and Umberlee access to some of the water/ice/cold based mage spells?

I think we want to keep true to pnp spells where possible. But some of the innates we are adding for the kits are Mage spells - so it might be possible to see an Aurilite casting Cone of Cold, or an Umberlant casting an Acid Arrow or something.

Very interesting idea. That would solve quite a lot of problems, though this sparrow is still pondering about how to *leave* that Plane and being able to return again.

Imprisonment? That might not work--it depends on how their deaths are scripted in.
