Throughout the BG games we often run into items that have excellant abilities that grace our PCs with various powers. Unfortunately some of these powerful objects have an unfortunate side effect: a constant spell effect animation! Sometimes it's only slightly irritating glowing circle at the characters feet or he/she starts flashing in different colors, other times the entire character icon is obscured by a huge glowing ball of energy! There are mods in existance to reduce the irritation of some specific items, but what I want to know is if there is a mod to remove all item spell animations entirely. So that you get the animation if you cast a spell but you don't when you put on an item because it's always working, we don't need to be constantly reminded of it. Please tell me if such a mod exists (Weidu preffered), if not then perhaps someone should make it? Thank you for your time.

I have been trying to implement this, but these are annoyingly hard-coded effects--rather than hainvg a play animation when equipped effect, certain opcodes simply play an animation. They don't reference any specific BAMs, which means I have to hunt down which one does what... ugh. It also means that if the same animation is used by a spell, then the spell will also lose its animation.

Well, it's even more work but the work around for that is to create a new bam with the same graphic. (For example the hated spmagglo.bam or "whiffleball".) You just copy/rename this to SpamBam.bam. You create a blank .bam and rename it to the original. This removes the visual from all the dammed items. However, if you want to keep it for a spell, you add a new 3D effect graphic to the spell using the SpamBam.bam.
I realize Cam likely knows this, but I didn't want his cry of "crap this hardcoded stuff is too much work" to deter someone else from attempting the project. :D

You could just use an item editor made by MindFlayer. I think its hosted on the Sorcerer's Place but I'm not 100% sure.
