I really wish your party always had boots of speed equipped when there were no enemies in the area.

Seriously!

You're asking for easy scripting actions there dude. Those are not possible/worthwhile .exe hacks.

Sorry hlidskialf (aka the mighty Jin Kazama).

I only asked because I have a crap PC. I've assumed mods to bgmain would be less CPU-intensive than override scripts, but I may be wrong about that. This would be good to know.

Blah blay.. Bioware said they don't care what's done with it, and all interplay will say about hacking the exe is that they "nolonger support it"..

Exactly. Interplay are pretty much bankrupt, and Bioware is hardly going to sue a modding community they have praised for mucking around with aging software.

Also, most people legitimately own BG2, due to it's size. It's harder to pirate. Therefore thay've probably made truckloads of cash off it already.

Real world does not equal legal technicalities.

Now if I could only find a copy of TOB ANYWHERE.. GRUMBLE!

FOr some reason my editor isn't working worth a damn on this computer.. and the other one (mine) is too slow to run it through the decompiler.. so I'm giving up for now..

Besides I just got something that's been on my wishlist for 2 years, so a modding I will go..

True dual classing rules. IE, being able to dual-class anything into anything (provided you met the requirements), and being able to dual several times. A human NG Thief/Bard/Ranger should be possible.
Wondering where's the old Interplay community? Well, they're all at Ashford City!

then why can't i find a no-cd crack. I'm seriously tired of switiching out the cds everytime i load a mod or mod tool. It's annoying. I bought the game, actually, i bought the game twice because i couldn't find TOB only. This would be nice, considering i spent 40+ dollars on this.

A crack is quite different from changing some in game rules.

I don't think a crack would even get hammerred that hard by the companies involved, but it's unnecessary from the perspective of people who would normally do that kind of work for you (and actually could).

The only only way to pirate BG2 is to physically copy the CDs, or download a 3GB .iso etc. If you've gone to all that trouble, the game doesn't need patching as you have CDs.

The amount of work it takes to crack things like this can be phenomenal, and I doubt anyone will try. (If it really bugs you try and find SoftIce or similar and see what's happenning inside the program).

Crackers tend to leave their best efforts for applications in my experience.

(Dear God, please forgive me...)

I was trying to put you off SoftICE, but I'll make it less appealing.

Making a no-CD crack for BG2 would probably be very hard, and definitely very, very boring to attempt. It also may be impossible (hahaha).

Learning how to crack would teach you really neat stuff about how calls are actually made to the CPU etc., but IMO this is much too hard to even think about if you're a beginner.

And more importantly, cracking is way outside legal technicalities, and talk of it doesn't belong here, but on a cracking forum.

it's not hard.... just download it. bg2nocd.. I use it so I can play with different mods on the same system while working on mine..

CD2 for BG2, or the ToB CD if you have the newer bgmain.exe.

But I guess you can't if Chevar "[uses bg2nocd to play] with different mods on the same system while working on [his]."
