Yeah, but TNO has spent countless years in the blood war before. He must have learned their language to get anywhere other than front ranks with the lemures. With a high enough INT/WIS, there is no reason he couldn't recall it. Hell, with maxed out mental stats, he should be able to pull a Rurouni Kenshin-ish "I've watched you for two seconds and have therefore figured out your entire life's story. Also, here is the cure for cancer." manuever. The diary itself could be written in some demon language, so you could find a way to open it but it would end up being pointless because you can't read it........

How can you NOT like Nordom? You said you couldn't put in another NPC without taking an existing one right? Well then remove the cube! No one likes him >.> - <.< .... do they?
There are so many reasons why Nordom is one of the better NPCs:
1. Fully customizable. If the Nameless One do the charisma upgrade with CHR=25 you get the only NPC with a permanent Luck bonus, it is possible to get a CON=19 with Nordom which makes him quite durable even at close range combat.
2. Ranged combat: *very* useful in Carceri against those pesky mad mages who fling spells from the rooftops; this allows you to conserve your mage spells for the battle against Trias, since you cannot rest to memorize spells in the Administration Building.
3. You can use lens with Nordom, two of which makes the rogue modron extremely powerful:
Stealth Lens: Makes Nordom the second most armored NPC (next to Dak'kon with +3 Chained-Blade)
Optix: Another +1 to luck, as well as a higher critical hit rate, PLUS extra damage. Almost like having a permanent Zerthimon's Focus cast on Nordom!
4. Nordom gives you the spell "Enoll Eva's Duplication" which DOUBLES magical and physical damage dealt during its effect, one of the best spells in the game. (Granted this isn't exactly one of Nordom's qualities, but if you remove Nordom, you remove the spell too. )
5. Nordom can actually help the Nameless One deduce the indentity of the Transcendent One, just in case the Nameless One's intelligence is not particularly high to figure it out himself.
6. Some of the funniest (in my opinion) banters in the game involve Nordom :
Example:
Fall-From-Grace: "Nordom... are you speaking to your crossbows?"
Nordom: "Negatory."
Fall-From-Grace: "Oh. That's a relief. I thought -"
Nordom: "I am not speaking to them, I am listening to them. They were submitting queries as to when they will get to shoot something."
Fall-From-Grace: "Oh."
Example 2:
Morte: "Hey, Nordom... 'Knock-Knock.'"
Nordom: "Why do you persist in addressing me as a door?"
Morte: "It's a joke, you stupid polygon. You're supposed to answer 'who's there?'"
Nordom: "I know who is there. It is you. Why would I ask a question when I know the answer?"
Morte: "You know what, just forget it."

2- They respawn, so your best bet is to just ignore them.
3- I maxed out Annah's AC rather easily.
4- You don't need him in the party for that.
5- Really? Didn't know that. So Nordom is involved in the main plot in *drumroll* one way!
6- A comical sidekick doesn't make a good NPC.
I also say dump the cube if you really want to make a new NPC. He's not really involved with the story anyway, and is only there for comical relief - something that doesn't fit the game that much IMNSHO.

But Grace is still more involved than Nordom, since you could play the whole game without even meeting him. The whole Modron maze always seemed a little "off" to me...

Umm?! When? How?!5. Nordom can actually help the Nameless One deduce the indentity of the Transcendent One, just in case the Nameless One's intelligence is not particularly high to figure it out himself.
