I'm posting this here as a pinned topic for now, since the bug involved may crash your game with very specific settings and gameplay (and I didn't really know where else to put it!). Thanks go to Toxeus for pointing out the problem and helping me pinpoint the bug.
You can get the fixed files either from the complete installer or the individual component.
