...My favorite character is Xan, because he's so depressing that it's actually amusing. That's and he's just so cute X3.
So what about you guys? Who's YOUR favorite?

If I had to choose one it would be Imoen--but followed closely by Jaheira and Viconia.

In BG1, I liked Dynaheir best, probably ("For the right! And I always am!" cracks me up every time), though I also liked Minsc, Imoen, Alora (in small, sugar-frosted doses), Garrick, Ajantis, Coran, Safana, Eldoth, Skie, and Faldorn.
In BG2, the men did better, and the women did worse. The only two females I can stand in the entire game are Mazzy and Imoen. I liked Keldorn best of the men, probably, although I also liked Minsc, Valygar, Jan, Korgan, Yoshimo and Sarevok.

In terms of the male characters, I'd say Minsc ranks up there amongst the top for his almost childlike pursuit of doing the right thing. Yoshimo, for his unfortunate involvement with a certain wizard. Can't forget about the foster father slaying, half-brother of <CHARNAME> either, good ole Sarevok.

And Minsc needs an honorary mention, too. (and Boo, of course)

Kivan (in both BG1 and BG2, with a mod), Coran, Edwin, Korgan, Viconia (my romance of choice when I played a male character).
Now that I'm playing BG1 NPC project I'm starting to like some characters I'd never paid much attention to before, like Alora or Xzar and Montaron.

I like Coran, Kivan, Jaheira, Khalid, Tiax, Ajantis, Viconia, Sarevok, Valygar, Anomen - well, practically everyone, really. I do take Valygar into my party more often than Jan Jansen, though.

Other than that, I think Nexlit the Xvart stole the show in BG1.
Shadow Patrick was a star performer in BG2.

For BG1 (although can't say I played BG1 loads, must've done less than 10 runs):
* Males: Xan!!!!!

*Females: Alora (she's just so cute!!!), Dynaheir (I too love the "For the right! And I always am!" battle cry).
For BG2 (more familiar with this game, I've given up trying to count how many runs I've done!):
* Males: Anomen (my first virtual love, yes, I'm not ashamed to say it, I fell in love with a pixelated man, but give me a break, I was 15 and he treated me better than all the other creeps at school!

I used to hate Edwin, but I've *really* warmed up to him with the Edwin Romance Expansion Mod.
*Females: Imoen is about the only I could tolerate, and perhaps Mazzy as well. I hated Aerie's whining, Jaheira kept thinking she could telling me what to do, Nalia was some silly noble girl who thought she could "save the needy" by donating a gold coin a week to a beggar, and Viconia was an arrogant drow.

As for the chicks, I loved Viconia. Then again, I've always been in with the bitchy girls. Other then that, I'm afraid wasn't overly fond of any of the girls in BGII. I liked Mazzy, too, but never really played her all the way through.
And don't ashamed Eleima - I fell madly in love with Anomen, too. I never got most of the bashing. He's a nice guy, really.
As for BG1 - Coran, Kivan and Xan. Whats with -an's, folks? And Khalid - well. Is there a single BG player who doesn't want a Khalid to snuggle up to when they're sad? There were far more good female characters in BGI. Even Jaheira was less irritating and didactic back in the old days. Branwen is especially brilliant.
And this is going to be controversial... but I've often wanted to punch Imoen in the face? The situation was improved slightly with BGI NPC interaction, but eurgh.

Now that I look at it, considering the cast of NPCs (joinable and non-joinable) in both BG1 and BG2, I realize it's not all that much. Damn I'm picky.

Male: Minsc. He's the tough guy I wish I'd been at school, and he's more rational than me.
Female: Imoen. I've never thought of her as a sister. She's always been the girl I fancied at school although she always went out with the guy who grew up to be Minsc.
BG2...
Male: Keldorn. He's pretty boring but I love his Holy Avenger. It would be the charismatic Yoshimo if some kind modder would rewrite the entire game from Spellhold to the Throne of
Female: Imoen when I'm wanting jolly company and definitely Viconia when I remember I passed puberty many decades ago.
Male mod: I'll find out when I eventually play one.
Female mod by a LO-O-O-O-NG way: Yasraena. O sweet, haunted, achingly beautiful Drow, tell your author to upgrade you to "romanceable"! Remind her/him/them/<CHARNAME> you need to continue dual-wielding those super scimitars.
And to do what Scipio has been known to do occasionally, which is to digress:
LEAST FAVOURITES...
BG1, male: Edwin. What a twit.
BG1, female: None, really. I love them all.
BG2, male: Edwin; Haer'Dalis. Edwin is still a twit; Haerie doesn't bring anything to the party that other Amnites don't do better, and he keeps spouting that crappy poetry stuff. I'd rather recruit a town guard who can identify magic items.
BG2, female: see "BG1, female".
MOST DESIRED INFRINGEMENT OF © COPYRIGHT CHARACTERS FOR EITHER GAME:
Male: Duke Nukem.
Female: Angelina Jolie. Her screen persona, that is. The one that out-Harrisons Harrison Ford.

Favorite Male? In no order, Minsc, Edwin, Korgan, Jan; Cernd follows soon after.
The three I actually don't like(though it isn't so much as I dislike anymore) Viconia, Keldorn, Valygar(Sorry Temp, but I LIKE magic.)
