#29 Challenge:
The Bhaalspawn Dreams
Deadline: Friday, 7th March
Post your piece in this topic!

Hello everyone and welcome to the 29th Fanart Challenge!

In this challenge it is time for us to go back to the games and find some of the many dream sequences! I challenge you all to illustrate any of PC's dreams in either Baldur's Gate 1 or 2. The BG1 dreams were all only described - the were seas of blood and the halls of Candlekeep and the ghost of Gorion and I don't even remember all of it - whereas the BG2 dreams were all played out so that takes some of the artistic liberties out. Still, pick any of them you choose, but it must be from vanilla Baldur's Gate 1 or 2!

Otherwise the style is free, as you all know. As long as the end product is your doing from scratch to signature, it's all good. Have fun people! You've got two weeks to dig those dreams up.

Yay, new challenge!

And I've checked, this time the date's correct. I know that for a fact because I'm leaving on the 6th for Egypt, and know it's a Thursday. And just to be safe, I've checked the calendar once again, too.

Though, did you intentionally place the thread in the main "Layers of Reality" folder? :whistling:

I'll shut up now. :D

These really are hilarious but I feel I need to remind you...

Still, pick any of them you choose, but it must be from vanilla Baldur's Gate 1 or 2!

Ahem! Need to be illustrations of the actual dream scenes of the game. Is that too boring?

Eh. It might help if you linked to transcripts of the scenes in question. I never had any luck finding them with Infinity Explorer or other utilities, so basically... have no reference, except some rather fuzzy memories. I'm not sure if the scenario in CC's pic took place or not, but if someone were to tell me that it did, I'd probably believe them.

not that it would have stopped me posting the pic I did, because the idea amused me

(...actually I was rather expecting another "specific NPC X" challenge by now, it's been ages since the last one)

Oh well. *back to dreaming* :whistling:

I'm sure there's a mod out there, somewhere...

Yeah, "my" dream is the first evil one in BG1.

Vanilla BG 1 or 2? Darn, I guess that makes any surreal versions of the dreams you get particularly if you mess up the installation of Baldur's Gate 2 mods, which messes up who says which dialogue lines and all, invalid, right?

Worse, it makes all these pretty Xan dreams invalid, too. :)

(And Romantic Encounters dreams, as well, but that might be for the best, actually).

Actually I think the most 'successful' (if you can call them that) challenges were the one that permitted modded/personal content. This one is rather illustrating of BG dreams, so it is challenging, yes, but also kind of serious, and yes, imho boring. The descriptions in the dreams are mostly too detailed to be fun while interpreting (though there are exceptions, I guess) and besides I guess it is a challenge for people who actually show lot of skill and style -- in other words, I am not one of them, as I can't draw ;>. Though I must admit I watched the previous challenges and somewhere inside there is this desire building up to post something of my own... even if it is doomed to be a complete crap.

So, yeah, another time perhaps.
'NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency! Our *three* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surpr-... I'll come in again.

NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition!... Amongst our weaponry are such diverse elements as: fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope, and nice red uniforms - Oh damn!'

Yeah, "my" dream is the first evil one in BG1.

...yeah, I think that shows pretty well just how informed I am.

(...bloody hell, have I even seen that dream? I mean, the only way to get a rep low enough to actually see the "evil" ones is pretty much to run around randomly killing civilians... I guess it's more plausible since it's the first one, but rep tends to really build up later on without any effort on the player's part...)

Time to move on to the 30th challenge which is Minsc! Hopefully he will inpire more drawings than this rather complex challenge. Entries are still welcome even after this post, but they will not be counted to the stats. Thank you!
